Why? Irish Mob is big in Boston/New England Area.

But Heat was much better than RK. I cant believe you people liked Heat. It incredibly cheesy and crude as well. You can predict the plot 30min into the film.

the only place the Irish mob had any real impact was the other side of chicago. the only irish mob movie which i liked was Road to Perdition. that was mostly for the music.

Cheesy? How so? The plot was no suspense, it was always predictable.

every convo he had with his wife (mostly fights) were cheesy. Littered with cliches even when De Nerio and Pacino chat. It was littered with cheese all over.

lets just agree to disagree. I just did not like Heat. Rate films like Mean Streets much higher than that. Atleast Casino was based somewhat on real events.

Read about James Whitey Bulger, whose trial is ongoing in Boston now. His story closely resembles of Castello (Nicholson) in The Departed. http://www.reuters.com/article/2007/03/06/us-departed-boston-idUSN0638885020070306
yeah but he was a lone wolf. No real structure. Turned out to be an FBI informant as well. So that sort of sums up the Irish mob.... (i know who is) They copied Departed from a Hong Kong based movie called internal affairs btw. Its ironic that Scorsese won an oscar for that while he got nothing for Goodfellas Raging Bull etc. Marty also seems to have gone from one Italian american (de niro) to another Italian American (di capio) who fronts his films..... (stuff like Kundun aside)

This movie is much better than the awful Barfi. There were some senisble lines. Nobody was acting crazy like Anushka Sharma. Although everybody was preachy, what was so bad about the movie? It's much better than sitting through some Salman Khan/Akshay Kumar bashing 50 goons flying high in the sky. Also, better than any YashChopra Mushy romance. I would give 2.95/5. Clothes were skimpier, but that's what most movies including Hollywood goes around wearing.
Is it a chick flick? My friends are raving about it.Some have seen it twice already.

I know about the IA and have a major beef on the Oscar pick for Scorcese. But the part about Irish Mob and the character is inspired by a real life character. Most Immgrant crowd in USA have a mob scene. There is nothing to laugh about or think that Italian mob are somehow superior to all. Mexicans, Chinese, Koreans, Russians, Irish, Italian all have the mob culture. Except for Indians !
