As I type this, I'm sure millions of viewers are glued to their TV screens. Mohammad Ajmal Aamir Kasab's verdict is supposed to be out in bare minutes. Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam is expected to address the media after the verdict is read out. Gosh, I can wait ......... ajmal_kasab.jpg

On another note, it's been reported that Lashkar has made two attempts till date to kill Kasab, while another attempt was a plot to set off a blast near the court area where the trial is being conducted.

The verdict was supposed to be out by 2:00 PM. But there'll be lunch break by about 2:30 PM, so if the verdict isn't out by till then, we'll have to wait for some more time.

TOI says even if he is given a death penalty it would take more than a year to hang him... i dunno why so late... when all the evidence is there , he was given a chance to prove himself now he has been proven guilty then why to wait for such a long period . I hate our Judicial system ... its a system meant to encourage Goons , terrorist , Mafias . This is not the first time ... Maulana Masood Azhar (who later founded Jaish-e-Mohammed) was caught but then he was kept as noble guest inside the Jail and later on Kandhar episode happened ... When are we going to learn...

He has been held guilty of all the charges filed against him. The sentencing will take place tomorrow. The chances of him escaping the death penalty seems really dim to me. Even if he does escape it, I don't think there's any way he'll escape a life term.

I dont have much hopes on our juduicial system, Our laws seem more like ------> take money from public and use the money to keep criminals as guests in prison till they are either released or they manage to escape...

Solitary confinement is worse than a death sentence. It will drive me insane if I am left alone in a cell for the rest of my life.

No one gets a lifelong solitary confinement. Ever. For people like Kasab, who genuinely believe in what they do, jail life wont be very difficult.

Simply because he was used as a weapon. He is not a soldier of Taliban who would slash off their tongue rather than reveal anything about their organization. If he were that tough, he would have never revealed what he did. Nor would he have allowed the police to capture him alive. He's just a kid who was brain washed with religion and money, and once he came out of that illusion after being arrested, he is just another one of us, physically and mentally.

The penalty for most of the charges is either life imprisonment, or death. If convicted and sentenced to death by the special court, the High Court will have to review it and be satisfied with the court's proceedings, before it confirms the death sentence. The High Court can also, at this stage acquit, order a re-trial, or order an inquiry into the case. In case the High Court agrees with the prosecution and confirms the sentence, Kasab has the option of moving the Supreme Court to challenge the order. If the Supreme Court dismisses the appeal, he could explore other avenues like presidential pardon and face several more hearings, before he finally serves his sentence.

He was simply brainwashed with killing kaffirs can take you to heaven to meet 72 virgins. I think he deserves a second chance. I hope the court doesn't give him death penalty... he's still a kid :((

You never understood a damn thing, did you? It's called context. The guy above me said that for guys like Kasab who genuinely believe in what they do, jail life won't be that difficult. I disagreed with him citing my reasons on why I believe he'll indeed find jail life difficult.

There is this theory that Afzal Guru has not been hanged till date bcoz of Congress and its minority appeasement policy, not sure how true that is.

Exactly. Terrorists don't have a religion. Even if they do...it's the twisted version of their ideology. I don't see why a Muslim should protest the death sentence of a so called fellow Muslim if he is indeed guilty.
