I am happy with a squad full of youngsters selected but the combination doesn't seem to be right. The selectors should have probably waited for the T20 WC to be over before pulling the trigger. I have Q mark over Vijay, YP, Jadeja and N Ojha. May be Uthappa (can keep wts as well), Panday, Rayydu (can keep wts as well) and Irfan Pathan would have been better options!

Dilshan to lead Sri Lanka in Zimbabwe Sa'adi Thawfeeq May 20, 2010 Tillakaratne Dilshan will lead Sri Lanka in Zimbabwe in the absence of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, both of whom have been rested for the triangular series also involving India. Sanath Jayasuriya, who had a horrid World Twenty20, and Lasith Malinga also have been rested. Angelo Mathews, the allrounder, will deputise for Dilshan, who is on his first assignment as captain for an ODI series. Muttiah Muralitharan, who was ruled out during the World Twenty20 due to a groin injury, also hasn't been picked. Sri Lanka have drafted in allrounder Jeewan Mendis, who's been in his country's domestic circuit for almost ten years but is yet to make a international appearance. Also featuring in the squad of 15 is left-handed batsman Lahiru Thirimanne, who played for Sri Lanka in two ODIs in Bangladesh in January. Returning to the squad are opener Upul Tharanga, middle-order batsman Chamara Silva and fast bowler Dilhara Fernando, who were not picked for the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean. The tournament gets underway in Bulawayo on May 28, with Zimbabwe taking on India in the opener. With players like Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra missing, and with the concurrent excitement over the football World Cup in South Africa, the Zimbabwe games are not expected to make the TRP ratings soar. "There's a gap of about 15 days between the World T20 and this series, which I feel is good enough for the professionals who play the sport for a living (to rest)," Atul Pandey, Head, Ten Sports, told HT. "We have to rest our top players," a BCCI official told HT. "There's a long season ahead, but we're sending a young team with an eye to the future. We expect a good contest. And the broadcaster cannot dicate the team to us." But Pandey felt sending a second-string team could harm the long-term interests of all the stakeholders, including fans. "Viewer interest could decline a lot if this team fails to deliver the goods, especially after the World T20 debacle. If that happens, revenue could take a major hit in future," warned Pandey. At the same time, he said they weren't too worried about revenue targets for the tri-series. "It will be a challenge and without big names, the series won't be a blockbuster. But we'll do fine, thanks to our sponsors." However, while Pandey put on a brave face, industry sources said it was a major setback. "In such a situation, sponsors and advertisers generally renegotiate deals with the broadcaster," said a source. "It invariably leads to a substantial loss in revenue." What's worse is that Ten Sports can't even seek compensation from either the host board or the BCCI. "When bids are made for the rights, there's no clause pertaining to the quality of the teams that will participate. So it's not an option, but we feel there should be a bit more predictability in team selection," he said. But isn't it unfair to expect big-name players to turn out for every series in a tightly packed cricketing year? Pandey said he couldn't answer that. "It's for the boards to sort that out."

Neo Sports / Nimbus has got all the home series and whatever the series BCCI will have its 1st eleven out for it.

Jadeja, according to The Telegraph’s sources, has been unambiguously told that if he didn’t perform in Zimbabwe, it would be “the end” of his India career. Besides a tri-series, with Sri Lanka being the third team, the tour will feature two T20 Internationals against the hosts. “Can such a warning have a positive impact? People in my MNC, have recieved such warning so many times even though they dont earn even 1/1000th of what the players earn. In any professional environment you have to face recurpsions and warnings for not performing well. there are thousands aspiring for an Indian slot, Jadeja doesnt have a brith right to it As for self-defense during a bar brawl, any professional isntitution be it college or a company will defitely reprimand its employees if they are involved in such scenes no matter what the provocation. Guys have been suspended from my college for doing much less under extreme provocations outside the college. Why should players representing Indian be any different?

what expectations...stop putting pressure on the youngsters..let em play their natural game.... we shouldn't mind losing the odd game if we're able to unearth one or two players to push into the senior squad - especially bowlers!!
