Sorry Sachin - for dragging you into this...

Zak is not a trundler and although he makes up for it by experience and some guile' date=' his fitness is on the decline (maybe needs to hit the gym and cut down on his drinking), i do not see him in a couple years time. He is on his last leg.[/quote'] Zaheer has been excellent for us at Test level for the last two or three years - I don't want to imagine what our pace attack would be like without him. Yes, he is a poor T20 bowler for sure but that pales into comparison to his importance to us in Test matches.

we all know Sachin is not going to play forever.. but atleast when is he is around, he should be playing all forms of the game... atleast the important ones... now we cant say T20WC is not important, can we?
Um.. Why?

yeah you are right ... playing that mother-of-all cricket tournament (Otherwise known as IPL) is now considered as pinnacle of cricketing achievements which is why Boss plays that.
dont play dumb.. let me try again.. playing 7 weeks of IPL will not ruin his test career.. but playing 2 weeks will ruin his test career.. nice try.. :cantstop: so why does your Boss play IPL ??? whats the reason?? playing IPL will not hamper his test career? Im happy tht hes not playing T20 WC..... I dont care.. but im wondering why he plays IPL then..??

then what business he has playing in IPL for 7 weeks and not playing T20WC for just 2.5 weeks?
Unfortunately, it's not for us to judge that. Also playing in Ind (with 7 home games) for a few hours is different than traveling abroad ..... And I would rather see him play at least IPL than no T20 at all. After his retirement for international cricket, he may still continue to play IPL like Kumble, Warne, Gilly, Hayden, Ganguly, etc. So would you go on and say that if these guys can play IPL, why can't they play international T20? Fans need to learn to know where to draw the line and respect personal decisions. Could he have played the T20 WC? May be Is it a big crime that he didn't? No Should the Indian fans be sobbing about that? No Should the Indian fans understand that is his personal decision? Yes

sachin should stop playing meaningless odis too(let alone t20s)he has a lot on his plate with numerous tests and the real world cup coming up.
I agree. His prime focus should be tests and then he can play ODIs against top teams like Aus and SA, along with major international tourneys like the ICC events.

This.. I dont think anyone can justify playing IPL for 7 weeks and ditching the country for the worldcup which is just 2 weeks.. and all intotal 7 matches..
He had announced his retirement from all INTERNATIONAL t20, not domestic t20. If you think IPL's standard is same as World Cup's then you have issues. Also representing your country calls for much more preparation, dedication, than silly francise cricket. Above all this, he is injured. So massive fail. Dada is playing Ranji trophy after retirement, you are going to blame him for not playing test cricket then? Kumble is playing IPL as well. Why are you not blaming him as well for not making himself available for this? Sunny Gavaskar still plays a bit of gully cricket. How unpatriotic of him not to play in the most prestigious tournament in the universe that is World tontee tontee? How dare Sachin ignore t20 to play more tests? How can be the fact that nobody were complaining when he was playing IPL in 08 and 09 as well? How can a 38 year old with 21 years of wear and tear not come out of retirement when our poor Yuvrajs and Gambirs struggle to put bat to ball? How dare he not take up the burden of being atlas for our country in tontee tontee as well? Isn't he ashamed to decline when he's been shouldering the burden in tests and ODIs for so long?

It's pathetic when people are blaming someone who has stopped playing the international format for 3 years. For all the idiots, had Sachin being less than err Godly in the last concluded IPL, would you be complaining? Idiotic attention seekers who don't waste an opportunity to have a go at Sachin, because they'd grab some attention which in Their sorry lives can't otherwise. Well, Sachin plays a bit of forehand during his tennis practise as well. He should play the Davis Cup, the Wimbledon, and the French Open as well. Surely if he can hold a racket and hit a fore hand he must be able to play Federer and Nadal, surely. He's also capable of lasting an our and half, hitting a ball with a stick and running as well. Surely he should play in our hockey team as well, na? How dare he didn't play for 2 weeks in our Hockey World cup when he easily played 6 weeks of IPL?

I feel ashamed to be called an Indian fan. When after all these years of selfless service, people are demanding more and more impossible things as if he's on their payroll. He is not, and if we can't replace him in the silliest format itself, which ironically he has played just ONE frigging time in his career, then lets stop playing cricket as a nation.

Indeed you should be sorry for dragging Sachin into this, Dinx the Jinx. Far from T20 matches being talked about in a few decades we dont even know if this format will exist in a few decades. It is an infant basically. Cant tell too much now.

Yes it is. It happens every year. Its absolute dogshite and no one will give a shite about it a couple of seconds after its over and done with. I just won a bet with my friend who is a die hard fan of indian cricket and a big fan of twanty twanty because he didn't know who the finalists of the last "WC" was.. In Lalit Modi's words, T20 is about consumers 'consuming the feed'. No legacy, no memories, nothing. Just consume and dispose it. Good thing is that the end of the EPL season and CL coincided with most of it.
