Level of dissapointment

What is every fans level of dissapointment when your country fails to win the 20-20 world cup as opposed to the 50 over cup or a huge test series. When australia lost to england I didn't even feel that bad but if we lost the final of the 50 over world cup I would be devestated as I was when we lost the ashes last year as well. Thoughts everyone?

I don't even consider T20 as a form of cricket. I'm not bothered if you lose every T20 game we play. Yet on the other hand, just one ODI loss puts me off. That was not the case years ago, when losing was a habit of ours. But that's changed since the last couple of years or so after we started doing really well. As for Test cricket, a single loss is a match is good enough to put a scar on my heart for more than a year.

Nil. I didn't expect them to go past 2nd round. They didn't. So no disappointment. T20 is a different beast that can make average players look great and good players look average. Only if you are a fan of a team that keep claiming "our team was dropped on earth to play T20" you will be seriously disappointed. :cantstop: Most of the Indian fans had realistic expectations from this present squad.

"T20 is a serious format for us. Just as important as Test matches" - Michael Clarke. Its turning into a major format now, right up there with the Tests and ODIs for the fans and players alike. So the emotions are higher when the country loses in the shortest format of the game, coz emotions usually aren't that intense (except the Ind-Aus, Eng-Aus series) in Test matches and 50 over cricket seems like a drag.

Would have liked it if Ind had reached at least the final but no big deal if it didn't. It's not like Ind's eggs are laid in one basket. We are still #1 in tests and keeping that ranking for as long as possible should be Ind's main focus imo. And since the 50 overs WC has a long history (the first official world title) and prestige associated with it, getting in to its final would be very important too. Doing badly in it would be disappointing.

"Winning the T20 World Cup is right up there with winning the Ashes" - By this comment Collingwood has insulted the deep rooted traditional value of the Ashes. If I were the head of the ECB, I'd have banned him permanently from all forms of cricket (including IPL itself).

For a team that has never won anything on the world stage ofcourse winning anything will be a big thing. People who keep saying T20 is a joke, hit & giggle tournament are deluding themselves. T20 is here to stay. Tests & ODI have their own place in the game. Tests - They are the pinnacle for those countries & players that have been playing them, ODIs will also be important, but if cricket has to grow, it will need to learn to embrace change and get into unchartered territories. The US, Chinese markets are big untapped markets, T20 will be the way to tap them. Here is a quote from a different sport just this week

If they are not serious about it winning any International multi team tournament, they'll be going out in 1st or 2nd round in most of the tournaments. Fans are not as much dissappointed about the losses as they are because of the way they were lost and the lack of professionalism. It's not that player suddenly become professional when playing Test matches or ODIs and then suddenly become un-professional when playing T20.

Tests and ODIs take precedence, but not performing well at any ICC World cup is disappointing. I find it funny when some people bash T20 when their team has performed poorly...only to come back and bask in the glory when things are going well.

With the current economic conditions in most of the cricket playing countries and people being busy in working hard to earning more, I don't think T20 is going to be wished away as it gives fans to relax and watch some entertaining cricket after a hard days work.

Let's keep the Test Ranking separate from winning tournaments. I don't remember what was India's Test Rank in 1983 (Not sure if rankings were there or not, at that time) and am not bothered too. But I'll never forget the 1983 WC win and Kapil's team..

I get disappointed after any match India loses. Though admittedly, T20 losses are easier to overcome than test or ODi losses.
