The 16th edition of the Games will be held in Guangzhou, China from November 12 to 27 and the BCCI's decision means a loss of potential medals for the country. "We will not be able to send our team, both men and women, for the Asian Games in China because of international commitments," BCCI chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty said in Mumbai [ Images ]. "We have communicated the same to the Indian Olympic Association," he said. Cricket's debut at the Games was approved at the Olympic Council of Asia's General Assembly in Kuwait recently and Monday was the last day to confirm participation. The Indian men's team will have a busy time in November as they host New Zealand [ Images ] for three Tests and five ODIs. This year's Asian Games will feature 42 disciplines, 14 more than what takes place in the Olympics [ Images ]. Countries which are expected to send cricket teams for the Games include Pakistan, Sri Lanka [ Images ] and Bangladesh. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BCCI is being foolish by not sending a team. Send a young team, heck even the u-19 team, but not to send a team after having lobbied so hard for the inlcusion of cricket in Asian games looks quite daft. Then why not send an India A team. Remember even pakistan will be bsuy with their series vs SA and if at all they send a team that will be a younger team. In fact, I feel the Asian games management committee should make it mandatory for the teams to send a u-23(or u-25) team, like they do for Olympic football.

It is just not India almost every SINGLE nation has a problem -- including -- I know this sounds ridiculous and you might ask who are they afraid of -- Pakis. They just signed the piece of paper because they have no other choice. Except -- only India has the balls to bell the cat.

This rule is applicable in all other sports in the world and celebrities much bigger than our cricketers have signed it without any problems. Be it soccer or atheletes or Boxing.
