Lord Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 time will tell though its dangerous going by stats alone.we know wat happened with Jaffer also as KT points out, these runs he made r at plate level,i would rather take Pandey who was highest scorer in Elite league
someone Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 People have lost common sense, You all criticize like our masala media but you yourself have no solution. First, Nehra, please see his recent bowling performances and if that does not please you, I am sorry but we really are not blessed with fast bowling so have to pick the least worst out out whole fast bowling. Even his performances in t20 world cup was very good and was our best bowler bar the last match. Jadeja has done very well in ODIs and this is a fact. No arguments. And if you people think Irfan Pathan should be here then it has to be not in place of Jadeja but some other player. Also stop living in the past, people bring in random facts, Irfan has 1 test ton so? He has become a liability in bowling and his batting is only decent. And if people critize the selection of Tiwary, it is hard to understand as it was these people who said our selectors lack vision and do not give chance to good youngsters. And please do not talk about technique, the likes of Sehwag have poor technique, what matters is the players strength and Tiwary does have some batting strengths like powerful hitting and is a left handed batsman. The fact is this is the best squad available but sightly disapointed with Tendulkar, as he talks about rest now while he was doing all ads and no practise and exercise during his holidays.
rkt.india Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 its dangerous going by stats alone.we know wat happened with Jaffer also as KT points out, these runs he made r at plate level,i would rather take Pandey who was highest scorer in Elite league he is being taken as a hitter, panday is not we already have sharma and kohli in the same mode..there is no means of panday playing in the lower order...he is a top 4 batsman
hari504504 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Why are they ignoring Sreesanth ?? - and Dinda his replacement??..give me an effin break
The Outsider Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Tiwary is a good selection, though he probably might not get a game. No harm in giving him a shot, given his superb domestic season. Yeah, it was in the Plate league, but he really doesn't have a choice there. Ashwin is another very good selection. He has shown the ability to pick up wickets, something even Harbhajan and Zaheer cannot do on a regular basis in ODIs. If he can crank up his batting against good attacks, he can replace Jadeja in the long run. Not that Jadeja's batting is anything great, but the perception is of him being in as an all rounder. I think our attack with P Kumar, Zaheer, and Nehra would be pretty well suited for the kind of conditions expected in Asia Cup with a bit of swing. The entire tournament is being played at Dambulla, keep in mind. Dinda is utter garbage. Anyone who has followed domestic cricket would know that - he gets hammered for fun in the Ranji Trophy on a regular basis. The guy averages more than 50 in 3 out of the last 4 seasons and is no spring chicken to invest in the future with. I Pathan as a batting all rounder should have been taken in his place. A bit hasty to drop Yuvraj, but if it had to be done then better now rather than closer to the World Cup. Overall, I think we have a pretty good chance in the tournament with this squad. I would expect a par showing of entering the final with this team. We have decent bowlers for the conditions.
Lord Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 he is being taken as a hitter' date=' panday is not we already have sharma and kohli in the same mode..there is no means of panday playing in the lower order...he is a top 4 batsman[/quote'] Tiwary is a tp 4 bat too.he takes time before hitting out.they could hav rather tried someonle like Nayar who can hit from word go
Ahmed Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Sachin Tendulkar is not injured anymore. According to cricinfo he wants to spend more time with his family because of the hectic shedule ahead.
hari504504 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 coz sreesanth is a moron Dinda looks like he'll drop dead any minute with the effort he puts in to barely hit 140.... Don't care what a Moron Sreesanth is...Cricket is not a popularity contest..neither is it a gentleman's game(ahem Aussies). WE are ignoring the most genuine wicket taking bowler we have for mediocre players who behave 'well' on the pitch.
rkt.india Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Dinda looks like he'll drop dead any minute with the effort he puts in to barely hit 140.... hari504504 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 the most genuine run leaking machine he is nothing else:haha: I'll take 2/60 in 10 overs anyday over say 0/55
Lord Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Dinda looks like he'll drop dead any minute with the effort he puts in to barely hit 140.... Don't care what a Moron Sreesanth is...Cricket is not a popularity contest..neither is it a gentleman's game(ahem Aussies). WE are ignoring the most genuine wicket taking bowler we have for mediocre players who behave 'well' on the pitch. lol, there is something called discipline.u cite Aussies as bad guys but forget Symonds is not playing anymore coz of disciplinary issues.we need to follow that, right? n Sree is not that great to include him inspite of his monkey atics
youngindia Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 how frustrating are the selectors. from picking too many wicket keeper batsmen and so called allrounders, they have gone to the u19's of 2008. again it will backfire. kohli and tiwary could be good selections a year or two down the line but right now ,they won't win too many matches.they don't have enuf maturity or skill. jadeja is still there.
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 sehwag gambhir kohli sharma dhoni raina jadeja bhajji praveen ojha zaheer a very decent team... better than some of crap the selectors have dished out in the last few series
hari504504 Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 n Sree is not that great to include him inspite of his monkey atics It isn't like we're spoilt for choice...either that or we here at ICF pool enough money to pay off Atul Sharma's debts
Lord Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 It isn't like we're spoilt for choice...either that or we here at ICF pool enough money to pay off Atul Sharma's debts lol pace isnt everything.Sree has zero consistency,he'll do good in 1 games n suck in next 10,do u want that
youngindia Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Tiwary is a good selection' date=' though he probably might not get a game..[/quote'] not NOW.too much of a junior and too much to improve for the 2011 WC. rayudu and uthappa are the only realistic choices. Ashwin is another very good selection. . If he can crank up his batting against good attacks, he can replace Jadeja in the long run. no. weak foundation.don't expect much. Not that Jadeja's batting is anything great, but the perception is of him being in as an all rounder. jadeja is not striking the ball well enuf and his range is not good enuf.but that's to be expected considering his age. however in 4-5 years time he can be deadly with the bat. Overall, I think we have a pretty good chance in the tournament with this squad. I would expect a par showing of entering the final with this team. We have decent bowlers for the conditions a bit short on experience i think .especially considerign that jadeja gets games under dhoni.
diegovegaz Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 sachin wanted to spend time with his children, well, can't question him though asia cup is a significant tourney happy to see ashwin and dinda retained seems a stable squad yuvi gone, that's one positive move from the selectors overall, the selectors didn't disappoint this time perhaps jaddu's axe could have brought a broader smile on my face
The Outsider Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 not NOW.too much of a junior and too much to improve for the 2011 WC. rayudu and uthappa are the only realistic choices. Rayudu is not eligible yet. Uthappa is injured. kohli and tiwary could be good selections a year or two down the line but right now ,they won't win too many matches Yeah, we should pick your 'seasoned' choices of Vijay and Badrinath. :hysterical:
