Lord Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 ^ he looked okay so far.could've had Sanga but was unlucky. but i agree he doesnt look a long term prospect.now hes picked for ODIs too
King Tendulkar Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 He has just taken the new ball and is bowling at around 125 kmph. Pathetic. Even at that pace he is not even accurate or even gets that much movement. Get this joker out of the team. He is no way near good enough. And I dont want to hear the same pathetic excuses that keep Nehra in the odi team that there is no one else. Keep playing someone and until someone mans up and grabs the spot. The selectors should also be shot, no idea what they saw in him. Its like they pick the team based on a few stats and dont even look at the players.

Praveen kumar is far better than these clowns at least we know he can swing the ball when it is new, every chance he can get some wickets with that.
msb1991 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I think it is perfectly possible to be a successful opening bowler at 125-130kph. However, you need a degree of accuracy and skill to achieve this - the sort of accuracy and skill that brings success over several First Class seasons, not just one, as in Mithun's case,
Lord Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 ^the problem is that he was hyped as a 140+ bowler who terrorises the batsmen.if hes gonna bowl 125,wats wrong with Praveen Kumar,Dhawal Kulkarni or even Irfan?

Praveen Kumar, Dhawal Kulkarni or Vinay Kumar could all be servicable options though.

VRV Singh Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Too much is made of 'trundlers' not having 'enough pace' in the Indian team...main issue with Mithun is he's an average bowler spearheading a largely average attack (certainly not consistent). Even adding a few more kph to delivery speed won't change this - neither he nor many of our options are much to write home about, pace or no pace Going by ICF, VRV '145 kph' Singh should make a glorious and emotional return

achilles Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Good bowler. But I would still pick a genuine wicket-taker Sreesanth over an economically feasible Mithun. We need a wicket-taker in our attack and by the looks of it, we have only Zaheer & Sreesanth capable enough to fill that role, with guest appearances and sporadic musical chairs' participants.
Serani Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Cant wait to see this guy so I can just laugh at my TV.
achilles Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I think Vinay Kumar might have been a good experiment on this tour. He does his job in a sleek manner.
DomainK Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Idiotic to compare him to Aamer at this stage. We have seen enough of Aamer on lively tracks where we have only seen a little bit of Mithun on dead tracks. I am sure he would do better in better conditions and with time.
Lord Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 ^ achilles-lol u r talking about V Kumar in tests.Cheeka dropped him even from ODI squad after he only played 1 ODI n did okay in T20s.n brought back fast bowler Ishant n tearaway Mithun

We lacked a street-smart fella, who is aggressive and knows what he's doing, on this tour. I see no reason why he won't be in the future scheme of things if he bowls half as well as we know he can. And by no stretch of imagination is Mithun a 140+ consistently bowling lad, as was suggested by Kris Srikkanth. Ishant is the future if he can lift his game.
Deleted_User_1 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 idiotic club level bowler.....this whole Indian bowling is laughable.
rohitcalls Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Mithun is strictly military medium ..but I think he has performed ok in this series . Wasn't there some talk of Unadkat and Umesh Yadav joining the team as net bowlers or something ? Are they also in the same 128-130 kmh types?

Umesh Yadav is one of the fastest bowlers in India at the moment. Touches 143kph regularly. And good to see you contribute :two_thumbs_up:
