There was an earlier appeal for leg before against him off Kaneria. He was given out even though he had nicked the ball before it hit the pad. Decision was overturned on appeal and given not out.

because its not 100% accurate. There is a margin of error which needs to be factored in.

And who decides the margin of error? The same d-head umpires -- who we dont trust to negin with in the 1st place

huh? Who told you they decide it? How can they decide on the margin of error? ICC decided that if less than half the ball was hitting the stumps or pitching within the pitch map than the decision would rest with the on field umpires.

Thanks, Gunner. What is your take on the entire thing? Would the ball have hit the stumps? Did you find yourself agreeing with Hawkeye on the impact point? What makes a 3rd umpire rule it as inconclusive? That Hawkeye shows the ball kissing the leg stump? What if that was not so? Remember you yourself said that the system was only indicative and that it does have an error margin? What happens then?

My take looking at it in real time was it would have missed the stumps. The 3rd umpire decides it is inconclusive based on the fact, that ICC has decided that Hawkeye must show that more than half the ball must have pitched within the stumps or more than half the ball must be hitting the wickets to be conclusive. Else it is inconclusive and the on field umpires decision stays.

Thanks Gunner. I too thought that would have easily missed the stumps and strongly believe that Hawkeye was wrong in depicting that ball as kissing the stumps.

Score another one for UDRS. Morgan (LHB) given out wrongly to a leg break that piched almost a foot outside off stump, turned in and hit in line with the stumps. Looked to be going down the leg side by the eye, Hawkeye showed the same, overturned. Umpires like Ashocka make the UDRS necessary.

What's the point of us (Indian fans) discussing this topic when our stalwarts including SRT (:(() are strictly against the use of UDRS despite getting fingered in the @rs3 time and again by poor umpiring.

The Indian players including Sachin Tendulkar have clarified that they are not against the UDRS per se. Its only about Hawkeye. Perhaps they have a point? :)

Neither Morgan or Colly looked certain. They were just guessing. In the end, it turned out to be a wise move. After all, a leg spinner bowling around the wickies to LHB has a gud chance of heading down the leg side. *We need a similar one for missed chances - "F'ups tracker for Poms/Poyz" :hmmm: ..brb
