Who would you have in the next test? Looks like Yuvraj Singh would be back in the lineup. Who would you have for the next test? Suresh Raina was in solid form in the last match. His innings was match saving innings considering the precarious situation India was when he came to bat. He was very comfortable with the spinners. But did not face the class of Malinga Yuvraj on the other hand made a 50 in the first test. Though he was convincing, it was not note worthy.

i would lose what little faith i have left in kristen if they decide to drop Raina after the grit he showed in the 2nd test.

I think Yuvi would play for sure, it was not like he was really struggling in the first test match. So he will make the cut and as far as Raina, well he will get his chances for sure in the coming months so he has nothing to worry about. He has basically raced ahead of Kohli & Rohit for the middle order slot and that is really nice to see.

I don' think Yuvraj should play, but the it seems very likely he'll be back for the next test. I hope Rohit Sharma gets a chance to play in test matches sometime in the future.. seriously doubt his ability in LOI's.

Yep, hopefully he fails and that gives the selectors the license to drop him for good. Otherwise he will be a passenger for the next couple of series.

Its very confusing. Raina against Malinga and Yuvraj against Mendis doesn't give me much confidence. But in the end i think Raina should play because he has just scored a 100 in last match and will be much confident then Yuvraj.

In my opinion, he has to wait. He was replacing injured Yuvraj and he wasn't the first choice. Once Raina becomes first choice which could be soon if yuvi fails and not an injury replacement, then he should play.

Raina, replacing Yuvraj, who had a bout of fever, scored a splendid century at SSC. However, the Indian team management is still “undecided” on Gautam Gambhir. The opener, who missed the second Test due to knee injury, had a full-fledged practice session on Sunday. Not only did he bat comfortably in the nets, he even participated in the game of football before practice. However, the team management is adopting a “wait and watch” approach. Gambhir, it should be noted, has been rested for the tri-series that follows the Tests. The Sri Lankan team management, on the other hand, seems to have given Lasith Malinga the green signal. Malinga, man of the match during Sri Lanka’s victory in Galle, missed the second Test due to a stiff knee but is set to wreak havoc again. When the slinger turned up at the P Sara Oval on Sunday afternoon, it was expected to be a fitness test. But it turned out to be a preparatory session. Not only did the quickie bowl for well over half an hour, he consistently hit the pair of shoes placed at the crease with his trademark yorkers. While only four Sri Lankan players opted to hit the nets on a day of optional practice, all the Indian players, except Harbhajan Singh, slogged it out. Harbhajan, who is also rested for the tri-series, “opted to rest” but will be available for the Test.

I think, given our ageing middle order we should find a way to get both to play in the near term. Suddenly one day Laxman, Dravid & SRT are going to hang up their boots and we run the risk of blooding three new players to fill in their shoes. I dont care what technique Raina has, its impossible to tell what he will do when pitted against the best in Tests. I value Raina's experience and fearless approach. I think these things matters more at this level than technique. No one thought Veeru would go on to become the test player that he is today, when he debuted. But he disproved everyone. And everyone thought Badrinath was ideal for test cricket with his super technique and he disproved everyone too. Give this kid & Rohit Sharma a decent run. Both are talented and can help us fill in the impending void to be left in our middle order in a couple of years.

Life has come full circle for Yuvi. In Pakistan , he replaced Ganguly in the Lahore test, scored a majestic 112 in a losing cause on a seaming track. Next test, Akash Chopra was rested, batting order was shuffled and Yuvi retained his place in the squad. And now he is on the other side of the table. The guy who took his spot has hit a 100 and going by that precedent, the century maker should hold onto his place.

If the team management is not playing Gambhir, they can drop Murali Vijay to accomodate Yuvraj Singh, who is also an allrounder in his own right, something that Murali Vijay is not. Its all upto the team management.

^ who would be opening then? Don't tell me Dravid!! We saw the result of that experiment the last we were down under. Imo..Raina should be given the #6 spot tomorrow. Lets end this BS about him not being able to cope with the quicks on a lively pitch once and for all. The guy holds the record for most # of ODIs before Test debut..clearly has waited long enough. Yuvraj hasn't scored a century after he was selected for the #6 spot since Ganguly retired..was below par in NZ as well when every other batsman in the team was making merry.

i would pick Yuvi.he was chosen as a first choice no.6.n he did nothing bad to that. in Galle.Raina,though,made a superb 100,has to wait for his chances.he made a 100 in Yuvi's absence,good for him.but he has to wait.likewise u wont drop Gambhir,just bcoz Vijay made 58 n Gambhir. i think the smart thing woiuld be look at the pitch,if it has anything for quicks,pick Yuvi,otherwise pick Raina

raina is a better choice high on confidence, excellent fitness levels, and a much much safer feilder than yuvraj
