Guest Shivani Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Ignore. An eye for an eye makes the world blind and only acts as fuel for the person infuriating you. Be the big man and forgive him/her. Thats the mature thing to do. Oh. I thought you do this- :girl_haha: yeaaaaah sometimes :P ok mostlyyyy .. fineee .... all the time :D

THX_1138 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 studies have demonstrated that alternate avenues for venturing frustration or anger do not help the situation. in fact, the clinically, best determined strategy for dealing with anger is a passive dismissal and self retrain. to deal with my anger issues, i attempt to analyse myself as a third person, sort of like conversing with myself and attempt to rationalize the reason i am upset and if there is an alternate strategy available. failing that, i try to distance myself from the situation and divert my attention. hopefully some of the above works for you. there is considerable self help literature on the web with regards to this, if you are interested.
flamy Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Personally, I feel suppressing emotions leads to lot of toxicity. At the opposite end is the expressing. However, there is also another way - Releasing. Anger and other fear-based emotions are a function of the ego and thus simply observing the anger as you feel it will dissolve it. Observe without judgment that is. However, when caught up in the throes of anger, it is difficult to do so. Thus, simple ways of expressing anger like punching bags, pillow molestation, wrapping your head in a towel and shouting as hard as you can will alleviate some of the pain and then you can deal with it from a place of more stability. What we do with anger is we revisit it a lot. Even though it has subsided to a degree, we'd like to get it back to the intensity that we first felt. It is like an addiction. And, it is absolutely unnecessary.

Used to get very angry and even got into some fights till highschooll...but strangely from past 3 years after I started working out, I have got this calmness and never got in any physical fight or shouted at anyone... Though If I am really pissed, my best policy is to keep quiet and ignore the person...it works quite well...
