akshayxyz Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Guys. I met a family who follows following diet(GM Diiet) once every year. Its one week diet. And throughtout the week you dont feel hungry. Still loose about 4 Kgs in that week. Just in case anyone is interested. Theyare vegetarian' date=' so dont eat anything nonveg from the list.[/quote'] I have not read any studies on how GM diet works - by going by my understanding of how fat is metabolized, how muscles are 'lost', how body loses water...a significant portion of that '4kg' loss has to be - 'water loss', and some muscle loss, and not much fat loss... And I am sure, most of the weight lost will be gained back within days/weeks of resuming normal diet. I would be pleased to be corrected on this.

But I dont think they gain weight so quickly. Infact they are average size people in late thirties with desk job.. They claim that this is all they do and once they feel they have gained too much weight. And they have been doing it for last 7-8 years now. So weight gain is there. But not just as quickly.
mishra Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I have been working quite hard for some time now. I had my Body fat ratio checked last week. Its about 20%. Before going I had read on internet that @13% ur six packs are visible. So was disaapointed a bit that I have it too high. But then the guy told me that is quite good at my age. However interestingly, I was reading a magazine and it seem you can have silicon six packs. I googled it and there were so many results. Now I dont know why, But I have a feeling that RA One aka Gay Khan might be one of the very first Indian to have one of those? :hatsoff:

Still feeling the pain while lifting even small objects. Not sure what it is. strain or sprain. Definitely don't want to risk hurting it more. I am really pissed off.

Always, always use a wrist-band to protect your wrist while lifting weights. For dead-lifts used a gym belt toprotect your back
vvvslaxman Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 This is the one i have. I honestly didn't think i would hurt myself doing this. Very good reminder about wearing wrist-band while doing these. You could hurt yourself even doing very simple things.

akshayxyz Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Always' date=' always use a wrist-band to protect your wrist while lifting weights. For dead-lifts used a gym belt toprotect your back[/quote'] false sense of security - at least for low/moderate weights. Better have proper form and technique and lower weight than you are lifting with such supports.
akshayxyz Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 13% thing... Google uncle I hope you arent confusing it with BMI. As per his chart , My age guys are considered healthy between 16.5-26 percent. So if i loose few Kgs withhout loosing muscel mass I become slim dunno what age you are talking about. ~20% is considered healthy for females, as they naturally have more fat%. For men, 18-20% and above is signs of visible pot-belly...you can still be physically active and yet be in this range.

I am just wondering if the guy told me so just to soothe myself. Yeah you are right. My belly is visible when i sit. While standing belly is not so visible.Infact If i try pulling belly in, i can see some of ab muscel. Fakkkk.. Now i need to go down to 16%.. But thats just about 3 kgs to loose

While standing if your belly is not-so-visible, then I would guess you are already closer to 16%, than to 20%... better way is, try to pinch the skinfold around belly area................just google around for skinfold measurements.
