Jacques Kallis vs Rahul Dravid - Whose the better MO batsman?

Kallis provides an All-round option with some handy bowling at his disposal. But can he make it to an Eleven over Dravid, purely on the merit of his batting? You decide.

Kallis hasn't batted at number 3 for SA for a long long time, where as Dravid is your ideal number 3. Also Kallis at number 3 does not have a very good record. Kallis = overrated selfish player IMO. Dravid is lightyears ahead of kalizzzzzzz as a batsman. But Kallis might inch ahead as player coz of his bowlin skills..

Depends, if it's a flat track, I might pick Kallis, but otherwise, it ought to be the wall :winky:

Dravid is no longer batsman he was 4 years ago.he has definitely lost the reflexes he had four year ago.Right now kallis is far more solid than dravid.

That's why he chose Lara, Tendulkar, Sehwag, Ambrose, Sangakkara, Akram, Murali in his XI? :hysterical: At OP : It's a close call, but I would edge it to Dravid for knocks like 230 and 70 at Adelaide, 180 at Calcutta, and 148 at Headingly. Can't seem to think of such defining innings from Kallis, but that might well be because for obvious reasons I haven't followed his career and innings as closely as Dravids'.

if one considers the best form of Dravid and best form of Kallis as batsmen alone, I will go 10 out of 10 times for Dravid for #3. Dravid at his best is definitely better than Kallis at his best, I M H O. Kallis is equally good in slips. way better bowler than any indian seamer, other than Zak. he is the most underrated allrounder in world cricket in tests.he is a true allrounder.good enuf to be an automatic selection as allrounder in the World XI of 90's & 2000's. but certainly #3, it is Rahul Sharad Dravid is ahead of him.

I think i would also pick RD over gallis...... of all the praises that are showered over kallis... the fact remains that he has yet to score a double in test cricket... which is pretty dissapointing given the bracket in which he's placed when being praised... and I think RD has played more defining knocks than Kallis... agreed that he's going through a lean patch... but even kallis has been through it... I can recall an SA tour to Eng where he struggled to put bat to ball and was worked out by the poms.... And RD has a far superior technique than him.... I know people regards Kallis as a technical supremo but I have seen him struggle against in coming balls... which even dravid does but not as frequently as Kallis.....

I will choose Kallis for his allround ability. Except him and Tendulkar all other batsmen is match winners, Kallis and Tendulkar will bring little more consistency and versatility in the line up.
