Most of them are killed for their skins and bones which scientifically has no beneficial value. For similar reasons, about 23000 elephants are killed for 23 tons of ivory. Keep in mind these are mature elephants and tigers, and so many cubs lose their lives because of those murders.

The main reasons for the decline are the ever growing population and the poaching to meet the demand of chinese traditional medicine It's not only the tigers, but the one-horned rhinos as well that are facing extinction because of these weird chinese.

It's like denying that farmers still commit suicide in India, driven by starvation, or that 9/11 was a conspiracy, or like insisting that something good has come out of Iraq. If you ignore the lessons of history, these tragic pictures will happen again and again.

The story of the guinea-pig children's fate on page 3, the mass killings of women and children, completely calm & composed facing imminent death on page 50, and the picture of the mass grave at the end....just reinforces my belief that we are extremely fortunate to be living in a free world, where we take the little luxuries of life such as good food, clothing and a roof over our head for granted. That image of a father speaking to his ten year old son calmly as they were about to die (page 50) will never go away. I'll think of them the next time my problems seem insurmountable to me.
