Strauss, Dhoni or Ponting

Dhoni doesn't seem to act much in critical situations with field placings. He can tend to let the game "fizzle out" which is what disappoints me. I feel he could have attacked England more but was quite defensive early on at times and psychologically that puts the batsmen at ease.

To be honest if Strauss has Ishant, Sreesanth, Bhajji, Mishra at his disposal he would have done the same.

As a captain, I'd pick Strauss. It takes an amazing amount of effort to beat the World Champions 4-0. Naysayers will argue that we had a weak team, but if we want to overlook the fact that NOT A SINGLE BATSMAN except for Dravid and NOT A SINGLE BOWLER except for Zaheer looked threatening, we are fooling ourselves. Credit must be given where due. Strauss has won this round convincingly.

I went to a couple of the games and I couldn't disagree more. If Dhoni had captained England, it still would have been 4-0. Strauss did nothing special, he didn't have to, India were rarely able to build significant partnerships that would make Strauss think. England seamers hunted in packs and used the conditions to good effect whilst many Indian batsmen gifted wickets to help too. Then they feasted on our weak bowling and grinded them down. Simple as. Only Dravid and PK played test cricket for India.

You were lucky to be there and watch Dravid play well. And I agree, PK did a great job as well. Dravid and PK seemed to be the only 2 people wanting to compete, to give their best and to win.
