Hi all you guise and girls in disguise. I am vipin gupta from sonepat (haryana) , age 22 rang gora ... kaan lambe , poonch me baal .. etc etc. Have just completed my undergrads in biotechnology & biochemical engg .Heading for a job in either bangalore or punjab from the first week in august. Have been watching cricket since the 1996 world cup in the subcontinent. Apart from all the usual voyeurism that cricket fans indulge in , I keenly follow the domestic tournaments and am excited about the young and upcoming players. A firm believer of using eugenics , cloning and genetic hybridization to produce quality fast bowlers and fast bowling all rounders .:winky: My goal in life is being an entrepreneur and industrialist and try to create jobs for all the jobless people on this forum Thats it for now. :hatsoff:

Food: not good Women: Non existent Town itself: Very quiet So basically, it's study all the time. For the first year he was pretty lonely and home sick. He did play basketball on the team tho and beating up on other players made him feel better.

No girls . Food in the hostel messes is pathetic but there are lots of nice restaurants all around and ypu hardly ever eat in the mess in ur final year. The fun is by means of in house sports , internet , the local area network that has around 1500 people sharing upto 50 TB of stuff. Its not really all about studies. Thats just for a week when the exams are nearing , depends person to person though. Overall a good and a different sort of experience. This year the placements have been a bit deflated due to the recession and all financial and foreign companies have remained away , but still most of the btech batch has been placed. This year a much greater number of students went into their core sectors rather than analytics or finance or KPOs.

Nope. There is a hell lot of stuff happening all year round in all IITs. Sports is BIG, every year in December we have inter-IIT meet, which is a BIG deal, and teams prepare for it very seriously. You should go to one to see the rivalry in cricket, basky, footy especially. On top of that, there is the intra-IIT sporting events which go on for months, where each dorm has its own team. Then there is intra-IIT cultural stuff, which has its own trophy. On top of this, every IIT has its own Cultural festival where students from all over the region (and whole of India, in case of IIT-D,IIT-B,IIT-M to some extent) participate, and that stuff takes huge amount of time and preparation from students. Every IIT has its own technical festival too (techfests), Bombay being the top one in this too. Most of these have competitions in software design, hardware design, robot wars of all types, and much more. In the time to spare after all these things, the people study, and watch some pirated stuff on their high speed net connections in the dorm. :--D
