I hope their guilt is proved beyond doubt. Without that it would be very difficult to bring closure. I am very sad at Aamer reduced to this state. However, he deserves every bit of this if in fact he conspired to do this.

Agree with you about PROOF of guilt. Could you please list what sort of PROOFS could help in PROVING the guilt like this?

12.05pm: The Pakistan high commisioner has told reporters that the players suspected of spot-fixing have been "extremely disturbed" by events during the last week. The players say they are "entirely innocent" and are "not in the right frame of mind to play cricket" having been "deeply affected" by the allegations. The commissioner added that the players are " innocent until proven guilty" and will "go to a court of law to defend themselves".

SY have been put put under pressure by Brit Govt not to pursue the pakis. As pak govt has put pressure on brit govt to drop any charges as they want pak players cleared or have threatned to not help more on war on terror. I have absolutley no proof of this conspiracy theory at all. Just thought of it now and typed it out , just shows how easy it is to come up with a conspiracy theory. But as I have now typed it and put it on the internet it now means it is true and has real substance!
I typed this up as a joke but I am starting to think it may be true. Clearly the army who run the country have give the orders to clear their boys, even though their boys are traitors to the country, really bizzare

"Scotland Yard" are looking the wrong way. They need to investigate the English players for the way they lost the 3rd Test to a bunch of no-hopers. I mean, how can you lose to a side that has been bowled out for under a 100 three times out of four in a series. That must have taken some doing.

I am not saying anything. I am just stating what was mentioned in that article. The only difference is that your mind is already made up as are a lot of others'. I am just sitting back and waiting.
Waiting for what? The players to come to your home and confess over dinner that they have fixed matches? There is a fking video with their manager telling the reporter that no balls will be bowled at specific deliveries during a match, which has materialized. There is a limit to being apologists to scums!

All this is cooked by Pakistan's think tanks including their President, these three were guilty as they come but they were not screaming this first but after so many days and so many talks with all the people now they are saying they are not guilty, WTF were they doing on morning when the reports came out.there was no match fixing done by paper guys but spot fixing was done. they are using the loop holes in system to scream we are innocent now. bloody buggers if ICC doesnt do anything now then it should be ashamed of itself.

I actually read somewhere that NOTW had consulted the police beforehand of the sting operation. If at that point they had realised that there was no basis of any charges by SY or any action from ICC, than they would not have bothered in publishing the sting. It will be disgraceful for the ICC not to take a stern decision, and hand them a life ban. Neither the players nor the boards are bigger than the game, and if nothing is done about this issue, than not only is a smack in the face for the sport, but also the greats players that have graced the game who have played it with integrity and honesty.

I guess there is something to the claims of spot fixing for sure - otherwise the players may not have been taken out. Like I said, I am disappointed. Extremely so. But I would still like for this entire thing to be proved - as far as possible.

As I commented earlier, do try to think through things. Majeed is an agent and manager of the players. Why in the world would he collude with NOTW to make a fake video? Why would he risk going to jail? Why wouldn't NOTW and Majeed inform the police that the video is doctored when Majeed is now under investigation for money laundering? Why haven't a police as sophisticated as the British not been able to establish that the video is doctored even after 5 days?

Doctoring a video like that would not only lose the journo his job, he'd get ten years in the UK for fraud with no parole. Oh no, don't think so.

We all knew Vortex is delusional, but this takes cake.

Yes, there are various levels in between and there is difference according to the laws of a given country, because it just depends on how any scandal was revealed. The law is there to see if something illegal was done or not, and how is it decided if something is illegal? It depends on the tolerance of a society and the levels of immorality involved. In direct relation to the ongoing accusations, the bookie would have had to actually place a bet to make it illegal. So legally he might not be accountable because he was in the initial phase of his misdoings. If NOTW would have waited for some more time, it's possible that they would have had more evidence just enough for the law to take its course. My thinking is that it was imperative for the tabloid to expose this during a ongoing tour and not wait longer, so as to generate more interest coz people were actually following and watching the test series...thus generating more newspaper sales and publicity. Now let's look at another angle. In cases of pedophilia, the federal law in US can convict if one has shown intentions to do it even though the actual act did not take place as they were caught by the media before something illegal was done. Undercover FBI agents and the media (eg. Dateline) routinely do entrapment cases. In a similar way, NOTW has done entrapment and exposed the alleged players before something more serious would have happened - like match fixing in the ODI series. Intention to engage in such activities was already shown by the players and they did bowl no balls under the direction of the bookie. The video footage clearly establishes this. Now if the video is real or not... that will have to be seen as further investigations are being done. In the case of Azhar, Jadeja, etc..there were clear intentions. BCCI set a precedent and by punishing the players they gave us a message of "zero tolerance". PCB has failed to do that in the past and today the result is in front of everyone to see.
very rarely i come across a post of yours with more than 10 sentences and 3 paragraphs of intense observation, opinion. generally u post excellent cartoons/pictures! this post is a refreshing change.u write very well.contribute more...

Some arbit news channel and newspaper in Pakistan claims that and you trust them more than any other source. Whoa!! So far none of the Pakistani officials/players/ex-players/experts have said the video is doctored, its only the Zaid Hamid types who have seen an invisible RAW hand behind this. There has ben no firm denial from the PCB or the players that they have been framed or that they will take the NOTW to the courts. As for the proof, the very fact the three guys have dropped themselves despite the PCB insiting that they will continue to play tells you the direction to which the probe is moving.
