Mohalla_Cricket Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 ICC suspend trio under ASCU code The International Cricket Council has suspended Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif, the three players implicated in the Lord's spot-fixing scandal, under the provisions of the Anti-Corruption Code. An ICC official confirmed to Cricinfo that the three players had been suspended pending further investigations, following last Sunday's allegations in the News of the World, in which a 35-year-old man, Mazhar Majeed, claimed he had paid Asif and Amir to bowl no-balls to order. On a day of hectic developments, officials from the ACSU met officials from Scotland Yard in relation to the ongoing investigation, and the three players are also believed to have been recalled for further questioning. A local legal firm has been appointed to defend the players, with the PCB's legal advisor, Taffazul Rizvi, also in London assisting the case. http://www.cricinfo.com/england-v-pakistan-2010/content/current/story/475624.html
Mohalla_Cricket Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Posted on another thread. At last, some solace for Veena Malik! :giggle:
riwi999 Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Ok, innocent until proven guilty. So, legally, unless these guys can be proven guilty, they are innocent. But everytime they walk on a cricket field, cricket fans all over the world are going to look at them and say "there goes the cheat who got away!". How bad is that? Unless these guys can clear their names, not just due to "insufficient evidence" but by proving that the whole thing was a set-up, I don't think the public are going to buy it. The law has its way of working, the public has its own way of looking at things.
riwi999 Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I had a classmate whose father was accused of raping a servant girl. It was practically an open-and-shut case, there was everything indicating that it had happened. All of us in class felt really bad for our classmate. But the man had influence and managed to get away scotfree. The day this news broke out, that classmate came to class with lots of sweets. "He is cleared, he is cleared". He was rejoicing! None of us touched the sweets. He felt really bad, and all of us felt really bad for him but we could just not bring ourselves to touch the sweets. I wonder why I am suddenly remembering that story now.
asterix Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I dunno whay ICC took this decision? They should've waited for Met (SY) to conclude their investigations..IT WAS JUST GETTING THERE.. lol

punjabi_khota Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Is ramadan over ?If not, atleast these suspended guys can be good muslims and keep the fast, since they don't have to do the hard work of bowling deliberate no-balls :nice:
putrevus Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 claiming that notw has fabricated the whole has comeback and spit in his own face, it is one to tell the world to wait till they are proven guilty and another thing to tell world it is all a scam when there is so much evidence against them. ICC acted asap after his statement.
