Throughout the tournament, the sub-continent duo attracted wide attention in the US media for their work in promoting peace between the two countries with the Wall Street Journal grandly declaring in its headline, 'In Men's Doubles Final, World Peace takes Center Court.' But it was Qureshi's overtly political remarks about the post-911 situation — a day before the ninth anniversary— that raised eyebrows. He said he's been stopped at airport immigration "every time" in New York — three hours at a time — including after his latest flight for the Open. And on the eve of the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, he wanted to defend his people.

A sportsman is a very patriotic person and what he said came out of his heart and the whole moment of reaching finals of grandslam made him emotional. Guy seems to be genuine though, atleast for now.

Instead of crying foul Mr. Aisam Next time when you play tennis, grab the mike and request your givt, your ISI to deport, ban, extradite all the criminal, terrorists (some of them not even Citizens of Pakistan). That is when the world will consider you. Next time when you play a tennis match -- grab a mike and ask your Govt to stop the terror infrastructure that they have built over the years to cause may hem in other countries. Grab a mike in Lahore and ask your government why is that the 9/11, 26/11, 7/7 and multitude of ther dates Bombers were trained in Pakistan and no-where else in the world. PS: I was going though the Yahoo comments for a news piece about "Floods in Pakistan". More than 50% of the comments were about how Pakistan deserved it, and many people commenting about its corrupt govt and administrators and also some not even believing that any aid is helping the actual people who are affected and many talking about Terrorism in Pakistan. All this under the "Floods in Pakistan" title. Quite damning I must say.

I dont believe that for 1 sec. As I have repeatedely said on multiple threads, common man in that country is a huge part of the problem. They have either Denied the Existence of the Problem or have Tacitly Approved the Wrong Doings of the Country over the years. Now that this has come back to bite in their ass they are over reacting.

All the "citizens have power to change" funda works in India coz politicos here are atleast scared of the public. Across the border, its the other way round. I think all of us have had Pak friends some time or the other, or atleast mutually known Pak friends. They're no different from us. Their government is, however! Ofcourse it can't be used as an excuse but well, we all know how even CJ's get treated there. The common man sees what happens and learns to put up with all this.

I am not sure why you say it is just us who think so. Yes we suffer the most and probably most angry against them, but what I am mentioning is universally true all across the world. Tell me one country which thinks postively about that nation. Even China I doubt thinks positively about them. It is one thing what the govt thinks, but I am talking about opinion of the general public. Last but not the least, it is not that Pakis dont know. They knew it all along. They were damn well aware of the fact that they were using Terrorism and other sinful ways to cause may hem in India and else where for more than 20 bloody years. Their attitude sucks. It is like they want the world to fear and come to grips with their way of living and thinking. That was never going to happen and **** was going to hit the fan sooner than later, which it did! Bottom line is the transformation of that nation is a long long long way away. It they start today -- it might take them 10 years or more. I think their own mentality and thinking is taking them down. Their own terrorists are revolting against them. Their own terrorists are killing their people. Their people have no solace, no bread to eat, no house to stay in, no economy to earn money in. All their aids are used in building weapons to intimidate India, with absolute disregard to developing their country. And now, look at the way, Mother Nature has caught them wanting. Had they invested some money at the grassroots, they could have handled the situation better. Instead, they are asking every country for aids. One might wonder, where does all the money, paid religiously over the past decade go? My answer - "Its their own attitude which has taken them down". Pakistan is a problem which is "solving" itself all by itself. We can simply protect our borders and watch, without reacting, as they "cleanse their society".
