Win Scenarios for India

How much time do they need to give the Aussies? How many runs do they need ? I am hoping India is still planning to win this one. India has a real shot . If India get a lead of 100-120 and bat two sessions, with the way pitch is changing, I think India can really put the aussies under pressure. In any case, if India bats two sessions tomorrow, the match is out of Australia's hands. What do you think ? It won't be a boring draw, thats for sure.

Bat till tea. Get 250+ lead. We can possibly bowl them out in one day and a bit. I remeber kolkata test 2001 we batted nearly till lunch on day 5. Then declared and bowled them out in around 2 and half sessions! Our spinners are miles better then theirs

As always morning session will be crucial for both teams. If Australia manages to break this partnership early, we won't be able to take much of a lead given Bhajji's and Zak's attitude towards batting of late. Only tail ender we can rely on is Ishant. Tomorrow's gonna be a big test for Dhoni as well. He needs to play a gritty, captain's knock and support Sachin. That way we are guaranteed of a good lead which will at least negate any chances of Australia calling the shots on a crumbling 5th day pitch.

Bat till Tea, that should fetch us a lead of about 150 min. Give them four sessions, I think this might be a repeat of Nagpur from 2008, we might wrap this by tea on the fifth day :D

Hope there is reverse swing in 2nd inningw for our guys. Spinners will get some purchase, but it will slow. But first thing first, need 3 digit lead.

all of you hoping for a 150 odd lead really need Tendulkar to get 300.
this looks to be most realistic scenario, lead of 250 will be difficult, 150 is what India should target and wrap Aussies < 250

Only problem is he is not playing in this match.

I know that :giggle: What I meant was Zak and Bhajji throwing away their wickets cheaply irrespective of the situation team is in. Don't think we should be discussing much about batting abilities of Sree and Ojha :)

Even a lead of 60 runs would be huge. I don't think people realize just how much the wicket has been crumbling. Even well set batsmen were being surprised by deliveries that wouldn't bounce at all and there is already turn there. It's up to Tendulkar/Dhoni now. If the can add another 50 runs tomorrow morning then Australia is out of this match.

if they add just 50 we will just about get to the Aussie total. We need atleast 120-150 runs minimum with the rest of the team. Anything more than that would be a fat cushion.

Most of the guys here got it right - Bat till tea, maybe an hour after it with a lead of 175. Give youreself a 100 overs to dismiss Australia. That scenario is highly unlikely though. We'll probably be dismissed right after lunch with a lead of around 45-50 runs. But for all practical purposes, the series is ours! :yay:

Well, that's what I implied that if they add 50 and not lose a wicket then it's over for Australia as I would expect another 80-100 runs at least before they are all bowled out. :)

I agree. It's very unlikely that we'll bat through till tea. We'll be doing well to make it through the morning session because once the tail gets in they will find out just how difficult it's getting to be to score on this pitch.

We need to survive the first hour of play.We can't expose our tail to the little bit of moisture that will assist the Aussie seamers. We need to bat out the first session, and not lose too many wickets.Ideally we will love 100 runs for a couple of wickets at the most.Get a sizeable of lead of 180-200 till the innings end. Bowl them for a part of the 2nd session and the entire fourth session.Get 3-4 wickets that will open the gate for our spinners to turn things around on day 5.
