Jaddu may have let the team down with the bat, but you cant deny that he contributes handily with the ball throwing darts, and mostly in indian conditions his figures will be better than any of our pacers and sometimes better than Bhajji.

Jadeja was obviously the best all rounder in Challenger Trophy, 5 wickets and around 100 runs, he was competing with Yusuf and Ashwin for that spot. Yusuf did well once, failed in another and his bowling has gone downhill and therefore Jadeja and Ashwin were chosen over him. I hope Ashwin gets to play ahead of Jadeja.

Aussies aren't playing ponting either.

Can we not try some other bowler? And seriously Nohit Sharma has some "connections" in BCCI. How else did he make it to this squad? :banghead: Last opportunity for Ravindra Jadeja - to prove himself as All Rounder. I'm sure Sir John is thrilled Or is Jadoo already pencilled in for World Cup 2011 squad?

Tiwary is a good slogger who can play a decent innings down the order - similar to Uthappa. We don't need Jaddu to feck all the efforts in the PP by batting in the death. I agree Ashwin is better, but he has a point.

Seemed to get starts only to throw them away in both the emerging players and A tour of England- Mukund and Rahane outscored him in both. Dhawal got him out pulling short balls in both innings of the Irani match. Kartik should maybe have been there to give MSD a match off too.

Vijay, Rahane, Rohit/Virat, Yuvraj, Kartik, Raina, Ashwin, RJ, Praveen, Nehra, Munaf would have been ideal IMO

Alright, but I'd have thought even Sir Aggy would have been good if we needed for ODIs than Munna since fielding will be a terrible liability (I wont even go into batting at #10/11 if needed). If they dont want old baggage like Munna or Sir Aggy, why not give a chance to Dhawal Kulkarni (more experienced) or Umesh Yadav/Unadkat (less experienced, but we can try). But, ok if he (Munna bhai) had a good SL tour. (seems to have played only Two matches? http://www.cricinfo.com/sl-tri2010/engine/series/456661.html) I would agree with Dinesh Karthik or Parthiv Patel being there to give MSD rest. Though MSD keeps wickets even if they are in the 11 !!!! I feel Rahane or Abhinav Mukund should have been selected instead of Nohit "style-u style-u thaan" Sharma

Also this would mean a certain place for Rohit in the line up as he can roll his arm over along with Yuvi and Raina for that 5th bowlers quota!

You are talking about one bad day for a bowler, well are we expecting our bowlers to defend 250-260? They cant do with 5 specialist bowlers , what will an extra allrounder do? Our strength is our batting. We need to enusre 280-290 runs on the board and we are done. And its not that our top order is very good in this series, that we are putting in Jadeja as an all rounder without God, Viru, Gambo and an Out of Form Yuvraj singh we are not doing any favour to our Batting strength.
