In a way Ashes is one that keeps the Test cricket alive. So much buzz. Pre series bravado talks. Outrageous predictions. Preparing well in advance. It was there even when the series result was a foregone conclusion.

Fair enough he enjoys ashes more. However, ashes is barley a rivalary anyomore. It seems to be one big love in , were both sides patting each on the back saying what great competition it is and what great sportsmanship it is. No real bitterness and nastiness. Now they seem determined to praise each other and waffle on about hard game and beer afterwards. Real rivalalry is India v Aus. Both teams despise each other and desperate to win. Racial overtones even. Top class cricket played to the max and at times not fair. Real hatred. Pak v India is boring in comparison. No wonder ponting prefers the ashes. They respect him and will praise him. Wont go after him like we do:--D

True. But one also has to bear in mind that the aussie team under Waugh didn't know what it felt like to lose the ashes. There are lot of careers riding on this year's ashes

Also Ponting is not used to tough situations. He had the likes of Hayden, Gilchrist, Mcgrath, Warne, Gillespie to bulldoze onto oppositions. So once again he was found wanting just like in the previous series. He made some tactical errors. That is one of the reason why tail keeps wagging against Australia more than other teams. Dale steyn, James Anderson, Zaheer khan, Harbhajan, Panesar... all wagged big time against Australia. Now we can add Ishant to that list.

Aussies loved watching WI - Aus contest and also like Ind -Aus contests but Ashes is at another level

I only like Ashes because the schedule is penciled in 4 years before hand and nothing will change it. They play a minimum of 5 tests. - A perfect ingredient for a anticipated series The schedule is released years before so fans and media can slowly build up hype And of course the histort BUt I still prefer Australia India matches, because it brings out the best of the Indians and anger from both sides.
