Younis Khan and PCB resolve issues

The long-running battle between Younis Khan and the Pakistan board has finally been resolved, after a meeting between the former captain and Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman. Younis, a former Pakistan captain, has been cleared and picked in the ODI squad for the series against South Africa in the UAE later this month. His selection into the Test squad would depend on his performance in the 50-over version. "Chairman of the PCB has given clearance this afternoon to Younis Khan and that is good news," Mohsin Khan, the chief selector of the PCB told reporters. "I discussed with the selection committee and we picked him straight away. He is fit, playing top-class cricket." Board officials familiar with the meeting told ESPNcricinfo that the meeting between Younis and Butt took place on Wednesday morning and that all outstanding issues were resolved amicably. A resolution had been probable since the board sent a letter to Younis asking him to meet the chairman. Younis responded positively, telling reporters in Lahore he was keen to meet and play again for Pakistan. Younis' return is also hastened by the pullout from the ODI squad of Mohammad Yousuf, who is out for two to three weeks. Yousuf has not been training over the last two days at the camp at Gaddafi Stadium and has a grade 2 abductor muscle tear.

this wasnt the typical circus, this is a case won by younis khan in the way it should be. he didnt retire, he didnt take part in team politics, he didnt fix a match, but somehow pcb banned him now after 6 months of struggle, he has come out as a winner :hatsoff:

It is and it will remain like that as long as Ijaz Butt is the chairman of PCB. He will yet again kick Younis out of this team after SA series.

the circus continues but not bad for him... he is one of the only remaining somewhat sensible players remaining in Paki cricket .. all other captains except him have been big namunas

Younis Khan seems to be one of those sane players which you are hardly see these days who play for Pakistan. The guy keeps himself quiet and hence he had to face all this crap and was dropped unlike other players who keep themselves busy with media, bookies etc. It's good for pakistan that he's back but won't be surprised if he is dropped again due to pakistani selectors making someone else happy. This guy was the captain of pakistani world cup winning 2020 squad and later was easily dropped from test squad, even though he is one of best in pakistan and then was dropped from ODI too.

You have to give it to Younis though. Unlike the other players banned after the Aussie tour, didn’t prostrate before the board to ask for forgiveness and ask them to over turn the ban. He kept insisting that he had nothing to apologize for and if PCB want to him to play for Pakistan, they have to come to him, he’s not going to go to them, which is pretty much what happened in the end. Younis seems to be one of rare Pakistani cricketers with some amount of dignity and integrity. Rest are just sell-outs, in more ways than one.
