bhajji' date=' ojha, mishra, jakati, ashwin, chawla, Murli kartik ring a bell??[/quote'] the only one who has a future in test cricket (apart from bhajji and ojha) is Ashwin and he is more than a year away.none of look like they can take over from Bhajji as our frontline spinner.

watched RP on last day of that FC match.I thought he was gonna be the key if UP gonna defend 176 but he was shoddy,BK n Sudeeep out bowled him completely.not good.

Chandan exactly my thoughts. He was spraying it all over in the Zimbabwe series - that too in an ODI. Him being outbowled by Dinda (in terms of both pace & accuracy) shows he should nowhere near the test squad. Yes' date=' he may have potential to make it big, but a BIG NO as of now.[/quote'] you got to analyze more deep mate. take into account: pitch conditions Test Vs ODI . For example. sresanth is a **** odi bowler but quite good in test matches. Dinda's strenuous action, his lack of height. Dinda is not a test bowler imo

Agreed Dinda will not be a Good Test bowler (Of what i have seen as yet), But he surely is a better prospect for ODIs. There is no justification in the selection of Yadav, We'll be bowling in SA hence dont need phaast boilers who can bowl 100 miles an hour. Decent pace with good line and Length should do. As on those pitches you dont need to bend you back that much you need to do on SC wickets, hence Mithun would have been my choice. But the Selectors do not care.

Selectors wanted to pursue with a youngster with a strong action, good pace and bounce, fairly accurate and a good fielder in all probability. so kudos to them.

Who's talking about Dinda man? A bowler who's not even in the pecking order for tests outballed him vs Zimbabwe. He did neither pick wickets or bowl economically. That's why I said he sprayed it around plus his pace was nothing great either - so should nowhere near the squad for now. Mithun did alright in SL, he should've been the choice besides Unadkat.

oh comeon man. By the same logic, sresanth shouldnt be any where near the test squad coz he is ***** in ODIs, I cant say abt Mithun V Unadkat as I have seen unad. only in 1 T20 match as yet, so you would know better on that.

Sreesanth picks up wickets, he has a strikerate of 34 which is pretty good. It's just his economy rate that stands against him in ODIs. Yadav picked a grand total of 1 wicket @ 5.8 rpo in that series at an avg of 129.00 & s/r of 132. And no, I'm not going by figures, he didn't have any sort of control or pace in that series. Wonder how a bowler like that is gonna succeed against Saffers.

lack of pace and bounce makes him largely ineffective more so when the ball loses shine after first few overs.
He did fairly well in the ODIs he played there during the CT 2009. On him being ineffective with the old ball, why write him off without giving him an opportunity. He has done well in 1st class cricket, has done well in ODIs and deserves a shot ahead of other contenders.

IMO PK, tyagi and dinda have got no case for their selection. I am not sure about Mithun Vs Unadkat Vs Patel. My order would have been patel>unadkat>Mithun. I would also have gone in with Yadav .
LOL I just brought in dinda for the sake of comparison, nothing else. :--D PK is the best bowler for us in swinging conditions. He's not a terrible option, anyday him over Yadav.

Tyagi could have been picked too...He is quicker thn mithun and can ball with the old ball well too which he has shoen on quite a few occasions in his fc career...And has a gud action but a bit injury prone

Patel with his 125 kmph deserves to be there, PK with his 128kmph doesn't!! And why not Tyagi? Outbowled Munna in the recent match that rhey played.

looks like there is no consensus on PK. Who will come after yadav, patel, even nehra and Unadkat in the test squad imo.

Patel moves the bowl off the seam too. Patel has played test cricket for india earlier too I guess. Patel > Pk in tests without a doubt. I know Tyagi outbowled munna in UP V baroda but still i feel tyagi got to prove more. He is not quick too btw
