:headshake:

No we are talking about bowlers fighting for the 4th and 5th spot in the team. The 3 frontline seamers obviously are Zak, Ishant and Sree. .
should i point out the obvious that His limitations makes him a liability in other conditions?
So if the need arises, can any of the back up seamers provide us bagful of wickets?
they are an investment for the future due to the failure of the previous bunch(rps, irfan, munaf, vrv). they can at best come up with useful wickets here and there..anything more will be bonus. there was no point playing the same old people with the wrong attitude.

we already have 3 leading pacers. we need a potential good bowler to improve and learn, vrv's case was similar to mithun, lot of technical problems, umesh yadav probably has the best bowling action in upcoming fast bowlers in india and action matters most

I was kidding. Nothing against Yadav. I just feel he is still a bit raw. But as I said in my first post of the thread, now that he has been selected, I would definitely love to see him do well if he gets to play.

That I agree with.

I am favoring because to me umesh yadav and sudeep tyagi are the best fast bowlers coming potentially coz both have done well on occasions against international class players and main thing is they both have less technical deficiencies than other bowlers

Many of the indian bowlers have entered to test crcket when they were raw and they learn the trade after that..Coz our fc dsnt have tne kind of standrd is needed to develop as an international qualit player unless they tour with A team

Yeah I think thats where we are going wrong, they come in TOO raw burn brightly for a brief period then fade away instead of learning at domestic level which is what they should be doing. Hope Unadkat does not go down that way

Very good squad and our seam bowlers should do fine. I have watched Pak highlights and find Morkel, Stern bowling 135-140 and not at all threating as it made out to be. Bunch of new comers in Pak team like Toffee kumar were scoring runs. So why are we worrying? The biggest pressure that SA is going to have on them is getting 20 wkts. Especially in form team with 4 of 6 are in terrific form. Even Dhoni/Bhajji came out good in batting. Ishant Sharma is doing good on Nagpur pitch. So, with Srisanth, lead by Zak we should just do fine. Remember, we will get wkts because opposition will feel pressure. SA spin attack is absolutely rubbish. So that gives us advantage as well. I think we are definite favorite on this tour. In form Sehwag Dravid Sachin VVS Reasonably good form GG Dhoni Handy batsmen #6 (like Pujara/Vijay) # Bhajji How do you think SA will get these guys out twice??? Even if two of them hang around, 400+ score is on the card in the first innings. If we manage to take 20 wkts with score around 600, the test match is ours.

A lot of people seem to be disappointed with the selectin of Umesh Yadav. It is true that as of now he is not a wicket taking bowler internationally ; but we should also remember that captains generally like at least 1 quick deck hitting type bowler in the playing 11 to soften the opposition batsmen with multiple bouncers. Currently Ishant Sharma plays this role. I think Umesh has been selected as a quick bowler as a backup to Ishant, if he gets injured. It is quite possible that Dhoni has asked for such a type of bowler as the 5th one. Apart from Ishant and Umesh only Tyagi wuld fit this bowling type to some extent as of now. Munaf, when he debuted, was ideal for this purpose but nowadays generally prefers to float the ball rather than hitting the deck hard. A good deck hitter, even when he is not taking wickets, is often instrumental in helping other bowlers to pick up wickets by softening the batsmen. Srinath, in his first tour to Australia in 1991-92, played this role very well and had increased the effectiveness of Kapil And Prabhakar in that series. Remember the recently concluded series against SAF when a barrage of bouncers by Ishant turned the tide in our favour when our chips were down. In short I think that the team management might have asked for an extra deck hitter and Umesh Yadav was the only fully fit choice among a very small pool to choose from.

++ Especially the fast bowlers and that too in flat indian conditions, they need not be wasted in FC if they are good enough. Every country throws in good fast bowlers straight into the national team after 6-8 good FC matches. Yadav may turn out to be a fantastic choice. yadav has also got a great record in FC 16matches, 53 wkts at average of 25.7 and SR of 49 http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/376116.html

It may be your opinion, but none of us here think that Yadav has pace to soften up an international batsman, which has to be consistently above 145k, with few going above 150k regularly. As far as I have seen, Yadav occasionally touches 140k and that is bread and butter for batsmen anywhere. So sorry. He fails on that count. And Srinath has been a beautiful swing bowler, not hit the deck type! --------------------------------- Anyway, after discussiong bowling, what do you all think of batting? Our batsmen have suffered there almost on every tour. Will this tour be different. This will be Gambhir's first tour. Will he succeed? Will Sehwag be able to wipe out the previous failure of 2006? And then comes the question of Raina? Should e play him in the XI in this dire form?

GG and VS need to give us good starts. VS is VS - he will attack, and sometimes he'll miss out. Hope GG does well.

Vote in the poll, Chandan. Currently ICF is 34 favor of Pujara, 7 favor Raina
