Amazing innings. One of the very best ones, in recent times. His resolve to win the game was so evident feck the technique, he is bloody effective I think Pathan with this single innings, has pipped Virat Kohli for the No7 position.

this guy is unbelievable.....he always possessed this ability but it never showed for india because he was always played too low down the order and had too few balls left to get his eye in. If we send this guy to country cricket to work on his back foot game against short stuff he could consistently be one of the most destructive players in the world in limited overs cricket.

The talent and skills were never in question. Temperament and technique against high quality, quick bowling were the niggling suspects and to an extent, he addressed both of them today. If Yusuf delivers, you can almost be certain that India will be in a winning situation. His ability to deliver BIG overs (17-21 runs) with the bat is a game-changing asset that could be the key difference, especially in high-scoring run-chases.

LOL! The ICF Hype Machinery working overtime. I fail to understand what he has proved by cowlashing a team which was whitewashed by Bangladesh. His ability to cowlash substandard attacks was never in doubt.

no no.he was always capable of slaughtering the nz and maybe the sl. but against aus and sa(even with their lesser attacks tehse days) i don't think he can play more than a cameo. he is dangerous but only when deliveries land within a certain range. how sl strangled him in the t20 wc with the balls outside offstump is acase in point. there are too many balls that goes unpunished and the stronger sides will have those extra options against him- the short ball for one(at decent pace) will still work against him. but he can slaughter less than strong attacks who are not good enough to exploit his limitations. uthappa with his wider range and better destructive ability should be there.

Really impressed with Yusuf's innings today. The one big change that I noticed today and somewhat in the last innings in the first ODI was that he was not mindlessly slogging like he normally does. He instead tried to hit boundaries choosing the right balls. His innings was a lot matured than any of his innings in the past and he was playing a lot more sensibly today. Hope he continues with sensible batting in the future too and then he would surely be surely our permanent no.7 . But then if he is the no.7 batsman then we would have a problem in accommodating Kohli in the top 6 but then Kohli is not a no.7 too. In that case I would feel sad for Kohli too. Anyways best of luck to both Yusuf and Kohli and hope they continue with their matured knocks. It is great to see good competition for the ODI spots too now like we already have in tests.

I would disagree on his cowlashing part for today to be frank. It was perhaps the only innings of his career where I have not seen him cowlashing but instead playing sensibly and hitting only the bad balls. But I am not sure if he would be able to continue this mindset in future games too or turn into a cowlasher as he normally does.

Tiwary did'nt play that badly. He struggled just a bit early on but afterwards he played a good supporting role and thats pretty much what you need when Pathan is in this kind of form.
