A group of fans offered one million Australian dollars to Shane Warne for making himself available for the remaining Ashes Tests. The 41-year-old, who has taken 708 Test wickets, has been consistently urged by the desperate fans across Australia to help out the Aussie team revive from the slump. Warne, however, has time and again negated any possibility of him coming out of the retirement. Yes that is indeed right my friend. Never mind that Warne hasn’t played a single FC match in nearly 4 fours. The mere fact that he played in IPL games and bowled FOUR loooooong overs, even that sometimes spread over multiple spells is adequate. He should have no trouble whatsoever turning during the Australian summer and bowling anywhere b/w 20-25 overs a day, probably on consecutive days as well! And btw, here’s a fun fact for you. Just in the Adelaide test alone, Graeme Swann bowled 20 more than Shane Warne did, in the entire IPL 2010 tournament.

Let us look at this more closely. In 2005 with a much more fit and a younger Warne the Australians did lose the Ashes to England that also had McGrath. In 2007 though the Aussies won the Ashes Warne's last Test series he averaged over 30 runs per wicket taken having conceded well over 100 runs in three of the innings. That 30 plus average is way higher than his 23 runs per wicket success he enjoyed over England in his career. So now almost 4 years removed from cricket all this calls for Warne's recall is just ridiculous. From what I have seen of Australian cricket this will be very un-Australian like approach and a step in the backward direction. I do not expect that to happen and it is a slap in the face of all the FC spinners that have toiled hard and trying to learn the trade which is a difficult art to practice in this day and age of batting beauties for most part. I am telling you right now, Warne is not the answer for the Aussie woes if at all there is one. They need to get their selection right here and look beyond the bloated up 41 year old blonde bomber.. Since Bollinger is injured and Doherty had been ineffective they need to get Johnson and Hauritz in and have a bowling line up of Siddle, Johnson, Harris, Hauritz for the Perth Test. They lost a Test by an innings. Big deal. Move on and focus on the next Test and get on with it.

the point is Aussie spinners are so hopeless that even a retired unfit Warney would serve Aus better. Plus he is said to have a smart cricket brain, will help make up for Punter's lack of one.

LOL @ Warnie :giggle: A wicket greener than center court @ Wimbledon shall will make a world class bowler out of every seamer (Hilfy/Siddle/Dougie/Harris/Watson) and Swann will not be as much of a threat. I'd expect England to collapse faster in the face of relentless fast bowling on a green top.
