Jersey #10 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 First class average of 25 and here are some videos of him. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgrOQck-_vQ]YouTube - Umesh Yadav to Angelo Mathews[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RtzqiHPIco]YouTube - Umesh Yadav to Tirumalsetti Suman[/ame] [ame= - Umesh Yadav to David Hussey[/ame] He looks quite fit compared to typical Indian malnourished bowlers. He gets a little bit of swing on the flat tracks so he could definitely generate some good swing on lively tracks of SA. He has upper 140k speeds as well. I think he should be given a go if Zak stays unfit. If he can bowl 145+ consistently in sub continent pattas then he can definitely bowl 150 on the pacy pitches of SA. My two cents
gs Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Nothing can be worse than Unadkat in second test. So no harm trying the other option.
gaurav92 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 One test and we are here, dishing out some odd shyt. Previously, Unadkat was a hero and just after one bad performance, he is "mediocre" and should be replaced.I mean WTF! I would rather try Munaf, or give Unadkat another go, showing some confidence in him rather than going for a "Gun Barrel Straight Bowler" like Umesh, he sure does have some pace, but not the swing, which could trouble the SAF batsmen. So NO for me.
IKnowU Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Pace is what you need in these kind of pitches. Yadav would be suited more then Gandhi atm.
ZodiaC Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 No. Ojha should play (in case Zak is absent)
rkt.india Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 zak will plsay..i want sreerajnikanth to sit out...was bowliong 125 and makling like hje is bowling 155 by staring at batsmen embarrassingly
ViruRulez Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 He gets a thumps up from me too... he is at least a glimmer of hope amongst the trundlers to be frank.. another video of him .. Unadkat is highly crappy and I would mind trying Yadav instead of Sree who had been spraying in the first test. Check this video. He is not dead accurate but neither are Sree or Unadkat. BjEIDOF_WDo
Sir john Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 :WTF: with you all :finger: test is different ball game than t20 .
Sachinism Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Zak and Umesh for Sree and Unadkat But I'm not too sure about Umesh, so most likely Sree will carry on playing :((
rkt.india Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 :WTF: with you all :finger: test is different ball game than t20 . he will do better in tests rather than ODI or T20..and we do not have any other option rather than trying someone new
vishalvirsingh Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 :WTF: with you all :finger: test is different ball game than t20 . I really want INDia TO HAVE good fAst bowler, i was happy when we got ZAK with SREENATH as i thot we have another genuine pace bowl Jodi now but sreenath retired. Since then we have never had a good fast bowler with ZAK and ZAK's fitness is very inconsistent. Sreesanth was damn fast in africa( last time) and was genuinely fast..even faster then ZAK at most times, and hence he became a HERO but i was most disappointed to see him in this test, it looked as he was not trying genuinely Hard and he was controlling himself while bowling. Even IShant was not at his best..else he bowls a couple of 142 or 143 K balls even on flat pitches...and balls regularly between 135 to 143K but here hew was balling between 127 to 134k with an exceptional ball going to 139k... i saw one ball (a bouncer) from sreesanth going at 139.5K which could have got a snick and got him a wicket..had he bowled 8 more balls like that in the entire innings , i am sure he would have got one or 2 wickets. I will tell u a true innings.. i went to bat one down and i got a first ball nearly a yorker and i hit it hard straight back the baller for a 4, Secobnd ball he pitched slightly overpitched and i hit it even harder touching his hands the ball went for a 4..so i had to consecutive 4's of a very pacy (124-125k ) bowler at cross maidan. third ball was a bouncer on the middle stump and i got my bat up got a snick of my gloves and the Keeper managed to catch it...nobody was sure of the snick except me. I was declared not out and i continued to Bat. fourth ball was again a similiar ball and i got a snick and it went to the keeper and he split the catch as it was gpoing towards first slip. So i kinda was getting out in 2 consecutive balls and then i scored a few runs including 2 sixers over a spinner and a few shots...before this guy( fast bowler) came again after 6 balls and first ball again on the middle wicket and i edged it to give the keeper a catch. i mean i faced some 7 balls from this baller and i got out thrice( once thru gloves ,second catch slipped , third i got a snick and was caught)..i faced 7 balls hit 3 fours and got out thrice of his bowling...what i wanna say is i know chest high bouncers are tuf to face and there are some straght ball and overpitched ball bullies like I am... i can hit pretty fast overpitched and straight yorkers for 4's ..it comes really easy to me..but chest high bouncers are my weakness....I am sure sreesanth cud get more wickets if he improves this ball at good speed.
rkt.india Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 @vishal..124-125 is not pacy anyone can bowl at that speed
Lord Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 still think PK should've been picked.more than pace n bounce we need accuracy n swing n he'd provided that
vaibhav_delhi Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 If sresanth finds some form thru net sessions, he should play. Else yadav should play. Why the hell did they go for unadkat??? He looks a crap bowler.
rkt.india Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 still think PK should've been picked.more than pace n bounce we need accuracy n swing n he'd provided that i do not think swing bowler at PK's pace will be very effective in SA..he can be good in england, but not in SA..in SA you need hit the deck bowler with some pace..in this test ball didnt swing after first day....it was just the pace and seam that did us more than anything....PK bowls 125..he is effective in ODIs coz batsman look to score outside off against him....he may not be effective as he is very predictable..does not second option at all other than swing

saneindian Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 An out and out bowler friendly green top at Durban is our best chance for a win IMO. More the pitch helps the bowlers, better it is for us as that will neutralise the difference between the two bowling attacks. I am hoping SA punt on a green top at Durban and then Zak, ishant and Sree run through the Saffers.

I am hoping SA punt on a green top at Durban and then Zak, ishant and Sree run through the Saffers. that'd be disaster.SA r much better in handling that as they r used to it.we saw how we did wen it swung on first day. we need a turner.with some reverse swing n play 2 spinner.but that maybe asking too much:giggle:

Also with Zak back, we can be rest assured that SA wont have as great a start as they had here. And 1-2 early wickets will make a huge difference here. Also our batters are not going to collapse against SA bowling one more time. This time they will e better prepared.

He looks a crap bowler. I Agree....it should be sreesanth to play but if he is out of form( as he was in first test) then UMESH shud play. umesh ishant and zaheer with harbhajan is a good attack. Sree did not take a single wicket along with UNADKAT in first test..they(both) shud pay for it and same applies to Raina ...Pujara shud play. still it shud be seen who is better as on current form UMESH or Sreesanth and then select.
