Should Laxman bat at #3 in next Test?

  1. 1.

    • Yes - VVS needs to come up in the batting order
      11
    • No - He should bat where he is doing now

He seems to run out of partners. Should Laxman come up the order for the next Test? He is a guy who takes time to settle down and then gets going and needs decent support at the other end to get a big 150+ score. He is certainly capable of 150 or even a 200 if he gets past the initial nerves and settles down

He bats well with the tail and is the go to man in a crisis; if we have a top/mid order collapse no one better to come in than VVSL so should be at 5 really as 6 might be too low.

too late to change things now , hes set at no5 . VVS would have avg ~55 if he had batted higher at 3 or 4 thru his career

Do you folks think Pujara is already ready for #3?
NO, but Darvid is a walking wicket atm , hes better off lower down the order . Pujara might fail for now , but should be great learning experience for him ...I would rather see him score those 20s or 30s than Dravid now .

why are we intent on changing stuff which has proven to be successful. we don't need laxman to bat in the company of dravid and dulkar and pad his stats. we have others for that. just let him do his thing.

Pujara should ' date=' Laxman is fine where he is right now .[/quote']Agree where VVS is at this stage of his career and more importantly what he means to this line up at No.5 to steady the innings this is not the time or place to make the move for him to come in at No.3. A one off arrangement when the team needs it is fine but in the bigger scheme of things Laxman at No.5 is mighty good.

This is not about "pad his stats". Its so that he gets the chance to make a bigger score which would only help the team.

Laxi don't have the technique of a #3 and Dravid don't have the technique to bat with the tail. As they are!
VVS at no 3:20 matches,1471 runs,avg=47.45,4 centuries,6,fifties,HS=281(even though he hadn't developed fully as a batsman at that time) RD at no 6:8 matches,413 runs,avg=69,1 100,2 50s,HS=180

You deduct those 281 runs from the total runs => 1190 runs and the avg drops down to 39. Not good for a #3, right? There is a reason he was asked to bat down the order in spite of his EPIC 281. Dravid's stats are misleading. Are you seriously going to judge a batsman based on 6 inns? PS: As they say, stats is a beach! Don't trust it. :icflove:

Presently RD is the worst no 3 in the world. He looks horribly out of touch. All he does is nullify the brisk start the openers give us.The best player in the team should bat at no3 and that is VVS.VVS can up the tempo with his free flowing strokes and put the opponents under tremendous pressure right at the top of the innings. Moreover he can play really long innings which he isnt able to do now because he comes down the order.
