Sachin=GOD Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 It is very simple - if any batsman other than Goddy makes runs and those runs result in a win then the only runs that count in that test match win were those made by that particular batsman. On the other hand, if Goddy makes runs and we win, its a team effort. If someone other than Goddy makes runs and we loose then it was due to bad performance from the entire team but if Goddy makes runs and we loose then there is only one man who is responsible for that particular loss. Thats some justice!!
yoda Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Guys ' date=' -read this aricle - [url']http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/34434/VVS-Laxman-Grace-under-Pressure# which explains with stats. Clearly , Laxman has done better than any other Indian batsmen during pressure cooker situations in the recent years. Nice article. Thanks for posting it.
zen Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Ergo he has to deliver EVERY single freakin time. Gotcha. The moment he doesn't then worthless POS like you go up in the air and start the "See I told you" song and dance. This is borne out of the insanely enormous expectations heaped on SRT because you know the pedigree is something else ( but don't have the balls to acknowledge that else people would ridicule you which is what Indians are good at and you don't want that) Anybody with a iota of Cricket knowledge knows that you cant keep making runs every single test match. The fact that SRT has scored truckloads of runs in every situation during the recent past but yet you keep *****ing and moaning tells us the type of unrealistic two faced fan you are. I mean just the previous test match VVS failed miserably but you never even so much as pointed a finger in his direction. That is because you know that is par for course there. But the moment VVS scores it has surpased all your expectations and voila he becomes a super hero. So the problem is not SRT's performance the problem is your unrealistic expectations. You fix that and everything will be ok. I will take that post as the white flag raised by you! :P

Jersey #10 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 desperate kids trying to bring down Sachin's legacy...good luck with that :rotfl:
Ranjha Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 The public has spoken in this poll. The entire nation admires Sachin no doubt since he has achieved great personal milestones which no one in the world might ever achieve but under pressure VVS kills SACHIN while playing true match winning knocks..
akshayxyz Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Please take a look at the 2nd innings scorecard http://www.espncricinfo.com/south-africa-v-india-2010/engine/match/463147.html ^ Did VVS help Ind get a defendable total because he happens to bat with the tail? PS If you can understand what's being implied then you would also understand that the pressure situation is already defined! :wall: This is what I meant , when I said Sachin bats towads top of the order --- talking in relative terms - Sachin bats higher in the order as compared to VVS. So VVS is more likely to play so called - "pressure cooker" situations - just because that is how their roles/batting orders are defined. In NO WAY this should be used to lay such claims that VVS is better pressure/clutch player than Sachin. This comparison is unwarranted and is baseless. And when talking about pressure - what is your formula to calculate that the pressure, every time Sachin takes the crease - he faces/"have been facing" - for decades is any less/different than the pressure situations VVS have been in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jersey #10 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 When Sachin scores his 51st century in the next match, 90% of these whiny little kids will either hide in a hole or start praising Sachin for the time being. Sachin is the absolute batting persona and there is no one better

akshayxyz Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 In fact, as someone rightly said - such situations as so called pressure cooker situations - are misleading. As most of the time they are "nothing to lose" situations. e.g. Playing alongside Ishant - in the first test against Aussies. had Ishant gotten out, or VVS himself, no one, absolutely no one would have criticized him. Had Sachin finished that match with - lets say Dhoni - ( assuming VVS gets out early) - people would have said - Sachin had no pressure. Height of hypocrisy is that - if Sachin scores/helps wins - there was no pressure, and if Sachin gets out early, then people start tagging - pressure situation. Your very definition of 'pressure situation' which is - when top order fails - is inherently flawed! As for the poll results - it does not prove anything. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_the_majority
vvvslaxman Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 The public has spoken in this poll. The entire nation admires Sachin no doubt since he has achieved great personal milestones which no one in the world might ever achieve but under pressure VVS kills SACHIN while playing true match winning knocks.. Exactly. Sachin has every shot in the book that is better than Laxman's. IN lots and lots of ways he might be better than Laxman. But when it comes to pulling off miracles very few can match Laxman let alone Sachin. Gilly used to do that for Australia.
zen Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 2010 has been a good year for Sachin but not for the comedy brigade. After the failed attempt to show Sachin is greater than Bradman (based on his recent revival, but note how quite they were for most parts since 2004), and Sobers, now this with VVS owing Tendulkar when it comes to playing super knocks! :giggle:
akshayxyz Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 The public has spoken in this poll. So 60-70 people represent whole nation? (in context of this pressure nonsense poll)?
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 so whats the deal here? laxman is a better batsman than tendulkar?
jusarrived Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 so whats the deal here? laxman is a better batsman than tendulkar? no , but hes more valuable
spectre Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Whats the argument about VVS coming lower down the order can hence can play more such knocks. They are seperated by just 1 place Sachin bats at 4 VVS mostly at 5 No one stopped Sachin from staying in the middle and play such VVS'ish knocks. He has done it but its mostly a rare occurence. When you are claimed to be the best, you gotta play lots of such innings on consistent basis. That really elevates you in importance rather than number crunching stats When the middle order batsman like Sachin fail in such pressure situations, its upto the VVS to pair with the bowlers and do the rescue act, and boy hasn't he delivered.
