What was the best fast bowling trio India ever had?

Today right now, I have been watching the repeat telecast of 2003 road to world cup and then I started this thread. I was pretty with what good pace, control, and skill our fast bowlers Srinath, Zak, and Nehra showed. I have never seen that kind of fast bowling from India. They were sometimes hostile too rattling the batsmen with yorker and bouncer especially Zaheer. Zak was consistently bowled in low to mid 140s. Nehra too bowled pretty quick. But then they both lost that pace they generated at that time through injuries and then Zaheer developed an attitude problems, nehra plagued with injujries.

There is some way to go, But I have high hopes for Zaheer,Ishant and Sree.. ..if only Ishant can get his act together from hereon.. These three now have sufficient matches under their belt and have played in different conditions, all the unadkats and yadav;s will have to gain some county experience and wait for an injury-opening..

Prasad, Kuruvilla & Ganesh. Prasad was monstrously quick, Kuruvilla extracted immense bounce on dead wickets while Ganesh was the wily champion of swing.

Kapil Dev was reasonably fast (85 mph and thereabouts) in the late 70's on his debut, and in the early 80's. He had lost pace considerably by the time Prabhakar debuted. Binny and Prabhakar were trundlers like the bucketloads we keep producing.

C'mon now, don't be so desolate. Srinath was pretty fast consistently (reached 150k in a few series, in 140 kmph many times), in addition to Kapil Dev in his prime. But mostly, we've never had a FAST bowling pair working in tandem, leave alone a trio.

agree, 2003 WC team easily. close to that was the JLD 04 team of Irfan, Balaji and Zak although Zak was injured IIRC most of that series.

@Watson87 Check out his debut series against the Paki's, they were shocked to see an Indian bowler making them hop around. In 1981 against the Aussies and NZ, he was pretty nippy too. Perhaps the matches you have watched the footage of have been in the late 80's, when his pace had dropped considerably (although he was still a pretty wily bowler until '88-89).
