What a mindless bowling by CZ bolwers...SZ bowlers bowled many bouncers and found the batsmen uncomfortable and here CZ pacers hasn't bowled single bouncer in 52 overs...and too Mukund who is so suspect against short ball...Yadav must bowl with aggression with his pace and instead he is bowling too full and giving easy half volleys to hit for fours...captain should use his pace better in an aggressive manner and ask him to bowll bouncers against these batsmen...No thinking at all here

And in the other match, Mukund had reeled of yet another big ton, 165, this time and Amit Verma-another supposedly promising batsman from Karnataka, has hammered a ton too. Central Zone has been completely outplayed in this match, in every department! SZ is 398/3 , scoring at 5.19/over. In NZ-WZ match, Jadeja is refusing to give up. He has crossed 150 and Vahora is giving him good company. Still can't see them getting close to NZ's total of 460. They are 105 runs behind with 2 wickets in hand. 355/8

Bowling has been very brainless by CZ...not a single bouncer bowled today by Umesh Yadav at his good pace those batsmen would certainly have struggled...Captaincy has been very crappy by Kanitkar who could have used Yadav in an aggressive way instead he was bowling full length half volleys...Mukund is horrible against short pitch stuff...Vijay is much better

170* for Jadeja is a lone battle. Very impressive. Shows that the guy has the talent and temprament to play long innings. If he continues to work hard on his game and become mentally stronger, no reason why he cannot be back in the national side again after a few successfull domestic seasons. Just 21-22 years old, he has age on his side.

Yeah, he's got good timing (a bit agricultural at times) and can be a good replacement for Jadeja for them in IPL. Now I hope people dont say that Shane Warne discovered talents like Maneria, Rahane, and Chahar once they start doing well for RR.

IMO, he's a good FC batsman but in ODI's, the #7 spot isn't for him. Ideally, you want someone who can hit out at that position and Jadeja hasn't done much to take that #7 spot. Someone like him would be better batting up the order but there's no space.

SEMI-FINAL, DAY THREE North Zone v West Zone North takes lead despite Jadeja's unbeaten century Ravindra Jadeja (170 not out, 242b) came within 68 runs of changing West Zone's fortunes in the Duleep Trophy 2011 semifinals, but ran out of partners. North Zone bowled out its rival for 392, aided by Sumit Narwal's five-wicket haul at the Motibaug ground to gain the first innings lead on day three. The visitor then added 191 for three in its second essay for an overall 259-run lead and captain Amit Mishra firmly in control of the tie. Leg-spinner Mishra dislodged Jaidev Unadkat with a googly, and then deceived Bhargav Bhatt on the front-foot for wicketkeeper Uday Kaul to pull off a stumping. Pinal Shah gifted his wicket with an ambitious drive against Joginder Singh's swing. Follow-on averted West averted the follow-on due to Jadeja, whose flashing blade and quick footwork fetched him 21 fours and five sixes. Murtuza Vahora, one of Baroda's young pace prospects, emerged an able batting partner with stylish drives against seamer Narwal (five for 102) for 43 runs at number 10. Jadeja stepped out against the spinners, smashed everything pitched short to the mid-wicket fence and refused to get bogged down by the enormity of chasing down North's 460 with tailenders for company. He gave one chance at 168, but by then the bowling had been tamed. Jadeja raced to 100 (157 balls) with a fierce pull to mid-wicket of off-spinner Vikas Mishra, smashed Amit Mishra straight over the bowler's head and swung his bat across the line against Joginder. The others are Dinesh Karthik (twice), Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, Akash Chopra, Bhaskar Pillai, Wasim Jaffer, Kevin Petersen and Lalchand Rajput. Verma, the 23-year-old southpaw from Bangalore, was not far behind as he too notched up the rare feat of scoring a century before the lunch break and selected Akshay Wakhare for special treatment, often walking down the track to hit towering sixers. If Central was hoping for some sort of declaration, the South captain S. Badrinath was thinking otherwise. He let his batsmen enjoy their outing in the middle and at one stage even M. Why blame BCCI if players look uninterested? CZ was completely outplayed from day 1 , hence they are demotivated, you can't say that for SZ though.

SEMI-FINAL ROUND UP, FOURTH DAY North Zone v West Zone North in Duleep final The Duleep Trophy 2011 semifinal between West Zone and North ended in a draw, allowing North to cruise into the final on the strength of its first innings lead. Resuming at 191 for three, North riding on Mithun Manhas's unbeaten 158 (178 balls, 25 fours) went past the 400-mark for the second time in the four-day tie, exposing the inability of West's bowlers to cash in on help from the track. West made 61 for three in its second essay as the match meandered to a draw. Mithun Manhas helped himself to his 19th first-class century and Sumit Narwal capped his all-round show with a second half century of the match as North Zone opted to shield their bowlers on the final day of the Duleep Trophy semifinal against West Zone. With the passage to the final all but confirmed on the basis of the first innings lead, the experienced Manhas made the most of the opportunity, having lost out on a big score in the first innings despite looking good in his 58-run knock. Expensive Unadkat Yashpal particularly targeted Jaydev Unadkat hitting him for three consecutive boundaries. He was finally out for 42 when he nicked a Bhargav Bhatt delivery to Pinal Shah. Yashpal’s dismissal triggered a mini collapse as North lost three wickets in quick succession. Mithun Manhas carried on and completed his ton. He got an able ally in Sumit Narwal and the two put on a century stand for the eighth wicket. The ability to trouble batsmen with the new ball on a lively Motibaug track was the difference between the two sides. North's frontline seamers made up for the absence of Ishant Sharma, who was named for the semifinals but stayed away. Sumit Narwal and Joginder Sharma had gone all-out in the first innings, with the former unplayable on the Motibaug track. The stocky seamer beat batsmen with his steep bounce and movement off the pitch for a match haul of six for 116. To add to West's misery, Narwal followed up his hard-hitting 59 in the first innings with a chanceless 50 off 68 balls in the second. For West, the inexperience of Jaydev Unadkat and Samad Fallah was exposed, who were unable to make an impact with the new ball on first and third mornings. The only point of interest on the fourth and final day was the five runs penalty on North after umpire Subrat Das warned Manhas for running on the pitch. West's first innings score thus was enhanced from 392 to 397. North captain Amit Mishra said that Ishant would be available for the final against South. “We have been told about Ishant's availability for the final. One of our bowlers, Pawan Suyal is injured,” said the leg-spinner. He has a personal problem of run-up and no-balls to tackle. “No-balls happened because I was playing after a long time. In the second innings I cut it down to one, so with more matches I am confident of sorting it out.” South Zone v Central Zone South beats Central by a record margin Manish Pandey ©, man of the match for an unbeaten double century, being congratulated by his South Zone teammates. The margin of victory, according to the HCA scorer, was the biggest-ever in Indian first-class cricket, beating the previous record of 540 runs by Bengal over Orissa in a Ranji Trophy match in 1953-54, and also the biggest ever in Duleep Trophy, eclipsing the 433-run win by North Zone over East Zone in 2007-08. Outstanding catch The tone for the morning session was set by an outstanding catch by Sreenath Aravind in the eighth over of the morning. Mohnish Mishra (38, 63b, 2x4, 1x6) seemed to have cleared deep mid-on with a shot off left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha. Just as the ball seemed to be sailing over and to his left, Aravind pouched it with a leap. Pragyan Ojha also got rid of the well-set Naman Ojha (55, 67b, 9x4, 1x6), forcing the batsman onto the backfoot and having him bowled as he missed the line. It was after this that medium-pacer Vinay Kumar took over. The Karnataka bowler came up with an impressive spell, mixing his deliveries with telling effect. He lured Devendra Bundela and R.P. Singh into mistimed pulls and then took the key wicket of Ashok Menaria to scuttle all of Central's hopes. With Mohd. Kaif already having flown out with an injured wrist, Central's hopes of saving the match faded away in just one session. Cavalier knock The entertainment in the morning was provided by Menaria (63, 47b, 5x4, 4x6), who took Ojha for 27 — a sequence of 6, 6, 6, 4, 4, 1 — off his 17th over. He eventually fell to a brilliant catch, holing out to Muralidharan Gautam on the deep mid-wicket fence off Vinay Kumar. Ojha sure was expensive, going for 110 off his 19 overs for his three wickets, as South completed the win 15 minutes before the scheduled lunch break. The margin of win, though not surprising, showcased the disparities that existed in the attitude and application of the two mismatched sides. Chasing an impossible target of 770 for a win on the final day, Central folded up for 217 in the very first session of the day, thereby drawing curtains on a clash that has embarrassingly been in favour of South. For the statistics savvy, the previous biggest margin of victory in Indian domestic cricket was in the year 1953-54, when Bengal beat Orissa by 540 runs in a Ranji Trophy match. The biggest margin of win in a Duleep Trophy clash was in 2007-08, when North scored a 433-run win over East.
