HowardRoark Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 really???? Sreesanth with all his drama and over acting and inconsistent bowling and his extremely high economy rate can stay at home and watch the World Cup on TV :two_thumbs_up: People seem to get confused with success in test and limited overs cricket. Sreesanth just can't stop leaking runs in the limited forms and Munaf seems to be a better option than him at the moment. Sree is a kind of bowler who bowls an unplayable special ball for every 10-20 boundaries hit, which is suited only for test cricket.
saneindian Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Our prelim matches are on 19th Feb, 27th feb, 6th march, 9th march, 12th march and 20th march..suffiicient time for players to rest and recuperate. So injuries should not be a major problem.
cowboysfan Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 they picked chawla because he is a leg spinner and he can bat a bit(ojha is a complete mug with the bat).
jibranpatel15 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Piyush Chawla what da phaak is he doing in WC team ?????? IND should have gone for Replacement WK or extra Fast bowler as no way IND going to play 3 spinners in a game even if the track is cracked & dusty as ever. Phaaking realy i don't understand it.
pensionplan Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 WC is a boring exercise. Canada, Kenya, Ireland, Netherlands, Zimbabwe. Is there a way I can get my club team in too? Each team plays what one match every 2 weeks. Wow shortchanging people and minting money seems to be the ICC/BCCI mantra. Champions trophy seems to be more viable than this stupid WC format. Atleast there are 8 teams evenly matched and it gets over in reasonable amount of time. And worse this a format that is tipped to go away with the advent of 20-20.
pensionplan Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Wow. Ojha has a genuine reason to feel bitter and terribly disappointed. Three inferior spinners getting the nod while he gets the snub.
sarcastic Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 rohit out from team :yay::yay: Don't worry... The first injury to any player in the batting order will give Rohit a call:winky:
The Outsider Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 From the squad selection, it looks like we might not get the usual pattas for matches in the World Cup, and that there is a genuine chance of the team strategy being to play 2 spinners in the game.
maniac Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 For some reason the Squad looks like it is missing something,I think adding Sreeshanth over Nehra/Munaf and Ojha over Chawla would give a stronger look to this squad.
Sachin=GOD Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Sachin is there :yay: tumhe kya doubt tha :hysterical:

They have to do some thing about the format of world cup. Preliminary rounds would be more or less formality and all major test playing nations would be in QF. (However recent good form of Bangladesh on home tracks means that they also got a good chance to reach in QF.) Also it is a rather long tournament which will go on for more than one and half months. But ICC can't keep smaller nations out of WC as suggested above, otherwise how you can expect game to spread over to other countries. In any game, international tournaments start with a large number and only few having realistic chance of winning it. FIFA starts with 32, but how many of them are real contender? Criticism of ICC for inclusion of smaller nations is not justified.
vaibhav_delhi Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 India will play with less pressure in the group stage and hence should top the group. And so, they will get to play the easiest team from the other group which they should beat. Then its just a question of winning only 2 consecutive ODI matches, the semis and the finals. Shouldn't be a big deal. The recent south african test series was far far tougher.
diegovegaz Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 read dhoni suggesting chawla & ashwin can bat at 7
spectre Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 read dhoni suggesting chawla & ashwin can bat at 7 which would mean both Kohli and Yusuf will be sitting out, 5 bowlers is an overkill with good part timers in Yuvraj, Raina and Sehwag
