He had another chance and did not really grab it. One thing in his defence is that he was opening over the last two matches so has not really been settled in the lineup. That I think did for Kartik too

That I think did for Kartik too yeah thats true he always scores well in FC cricket. hard to ignore a guy who always gets those runs, plus he plays in a very good team like mumbai so standing out in that side is pretty impressive maybe they should put him in the test side. his game seems better suited to the longer version. he sucks balls at the limited overs stuff, aside from the t20 crap which nobody really cares abot anyway

I dont see the confidence in him when playing ODIs .. in T20 he is still ok in random games but not in ODIs for sure .. I always had high expectations for him but he never seem to have been able to perform to expectations .. he has better technique than Gauti, Raina, Dhoni and Pathan and maybe even Veeru but he has never been able to justify his talent and falters at international level.. sorry to say but enough is enough .. somewhat inconsistency can still be accepted but regular inconsistency cannot be accepted and Rohit has been doing that for long even after being given tons of chances at plump batting positions which even regulars like Raina and YP have never got even after so many years

gaurav92 Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I am not a Rohit Sharma fan, but he was unlucky to miss out on some innings in this tour. In the first game, he was given a bad decision (not that he looked comfortable at the crease).In the second game, he hardly had 4-5 overs to play and at the other end, wickets were tumbling.So he had to go for everything.In the third game, the ball stayed a little low, and he perished as soon as he looked settled and had got a start.Also, he had been asked to open, and he is not a regular opener, so its imperative that he will find the moving ball difficult.Having said that, no excuses for playing that stroke of Tsotsobe in the last ODI, that was a serious error, playing in the air and away from the body. The main problem with him has been, not converting the starts into something substantial. Comparing him to somebody like a Kohli, who has converted almost every start into a big score, a match winning one, we can clearly say that he has not capitalized on the opportunities he has got.So it will be better for him, if he works hard in the domestic circuit, regain his form and more importantly his fitness, and come back strongly.Because what I feel is, he has got a much better technique than the other more established players in the line up, but the thing is, he must perform well with the technique too in order to get selected.

The minute he steps out to play domestic cricket, he looks like Bradman scoring runs everywhere. Maybe hes built for Test cricket where he can take all day to set himself. He just cant find the right balance to pace himself in odi cricket, especially when you are floating throughout the order. If he overcomes his mental lapses, nothing can stop him. His technique on the offense and defense can trump any bowler.

But its OK tht indian team didnt report the issue. Coz the relations between the 2 teams are quite coordial.

Sometimes, we need to look beyond appeasement.

Its like Zak yelling loudly after taking a wicket.
