Rafi and Mukesh and these three are my alltime favorites amongst the evergreen singers. They are the best male singers ever produced in the nation and no modern singer can reach even 50% of any of these three singers. Mukesh's sad songs especially filmed on Raj Kapoor are incomparable, Rafi's happy and a few sad songs are also incomparable but the truly versatile singer amongst the three has to be undoubtedly be Kishore da. From his romantic to joyful to sad songs all are in a league of their own. Simply love Kishore's voice and the feeling he convey in his songs. However, Rafi and Mukesh have a lot more unique voice compared to Kishore which nobody has been able to copy easily though many have copied a bit of Kishore Kumar. Kishore da >> Mohd. Recently I heard his Royal Albert Hall concert with all gore musicians..what a treat it was... He Sang all Rafi songs (An Evening in London concert)

In voice quality (god given) and gayaki (what you do with your voice) ...Sonu is up there with Kishore and Rafi. He is amazing singing live. If you want to know the singer's true aukat, listen to him sing live. I have heard Sanu, Shreyas Ghosal, etc. They are not true singers. Hear Atif Aslam to realize how besura he sounds live. Atrocious singers all of them. Sonu is daylight ahead of his peers. he has sung many old numbers live, he matches Lata sometimes in singing ability. Unlike Rafi/Kishore who appeal to even people born in the 90s (20 somethings) I have listened shankar, sonu, sunidhi, kk, shaan, euphoria etc in various fests. Shankar was way better than the rest. Sunidhi has got really powerful voice. Strangely, Sonu nigam got hit by a water bottle coz he was singing some c@rappy song called 'aloo gobhi...'. I think Sonu is very pakka in sur and taal and has a good range, but his voice is on a relatively thinner side. although, as you mentioned, he has sung rafi n kishore's song very very well and also has a few gems of his own.

He was the most versatile singer the industry ever had. His skills in classical were well known and equally matched by his playback skills. He was highly respected by the likes of Rafi and Lata. Some of his songs are outstanding. He should have sang more than he did.

Singers of 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s were very versatile and very melodious too. Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan and Udit Narayan are pretty good modern day sibgers too, but Rafi Saab, Kishore Daa and others of that era are just unmatchable
