Watson87 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Which group stage match are you mostly looking forward to? What are your expectations for the group stages?
DomainK Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I am more worried about the first match. We have a tendency of being careless in the first matches. We take time to warm up, to rise to the occasion, to gain momentum. And we do that more if the opposition is weak. We have lost first round WC matches to teams like BD and Zimbabwe in the past.
KKR88 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 for some reason, i feel bangladesh will be harder to beat in subcontinent than all those other teams, and strange enough bangbros always play good against us
hitman1980 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Bangladesh??? to be frank they r a useless team .. when was the last time we lost to them??? in 2007 cup .. and too was a fluke .. Had they been so talented they would have beaten us or maybe should have come close to beat us on few occasions after tht .. They r going to get a spanking of their lifetime this time around.. tht too in front of their home crowd .. They will remain minnows for the time to come .. I would be more concerned abt WI match .. Gayle must be angry cos of IPL snub :D ... 4 teams I see progressing to QF r India, SA, Eng and WI .. Eng we can beat anytime of the day .. SA its more in our favor especially in India ..
KKR88 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 i am sorry but bangladesh is not minnow anymore, the harder we digest that and start taking them seriously, the better chance of not loosing the first match
hitman1980 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 they r minnows and will remain minnows for the near future too .. Tht's y when someone lose to them its called "upset" u know .. They even lost to irleand/scotland (not sure which one) on UK trip .. The last thing India need to do is to take them seriously .. India just need to play like India to beat the bangle boys ..
DomainK Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 i am sorry but bangladesh is not minnow anymore' date= the harder we digest that and start taking them seriously, the better chance of not loosing the first match Even though they have won some matches recently, I dont think they have done enough to be promoted to anything above "minnow". They still are minnows. But we have a tendency of playing bad against weak opposition. As far as Bangladesh is concerned, in their 26 year long ODI career, they have managed to beat India only twice. When I say I am worried about the first match, thats irrespective of the opposition. It's not about Bangladesh, it's about India's taking the first match lightly, which we always do.
zen Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 None! As long as we do enough to get in to the QF. I would want India to start peaking around the Ind vs SA game
jibranpatel15 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 IND VS SA Would like to see these teams meet in INDIA as what we saw in SA recently. Especially I would like to see SA's performance in this game
Zelig Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I'm not concerned about any particular match in group stages, but I'm excited about the first match and one in Chennai.
fineleg Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 The Gayle force at Chennai http://www.indiancricketfans.com/uploads/emoticons/fear.gif' alt=':fear:'> (like they say in Chennai weather news - it may be சென்னை-இல் பலத்த காற்றழுத்த புயல்! - translated loosely: 'monsoon depression gale storm') also, the first match like Dominik says. We usually have a really poor 1st match.
kabira Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Just want them to pick at right now...like we did in T20 WC 2007....
Watson87 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 I was a little worried about the England encounter but don't think they'll fare well against us in our own backyard, we clean swept them 5-0. I think West Indies can give us a scare, if Gayle fires and Bravo backs him up we can witness a close encounter. The Bangla match I am not too worried about it, they don't have any power hitters whereas even Bhajji and ZKhan can score 100s against their attack.
Zelig Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 By the time we face WI in Chennai, we would have booked our ticket in QF. So, no worries :icflove:
Watson87 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Quite true, I just hope Kemar Roach doesn't injure any of our batsman, the guy is a skinny beast.
maniac Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Bangles...bcoz we are playing in their backyard where they have done well lately, their spinners are decent, our bowling is weak for their mediocre players to do well and traditionally we are slow starters. I think mediocrity kills mediocrity and that is why I have a feeling Pathan is going to own the bangles more than our supremely gifted top order.
