If that Mumbai rubble can be made ready in time, I suppose anything can be. There seems to be more than meets the eye, re. Eden Gardens. Anyway, we'll get to know for certain if the England-India match will be held at Eden Gardens by Monday. It's clearly politics between Pawar and Dalmiya that is costing cricketing world. As usual Pawar the master politician has won this against Dalmiya, who is his rival in last few years. Why could not the CAB get the renovation completed shocks me.

Then why bother with an inspection and a due date before the WC ? Lets just all gather to our churches/temples/mosques/gurudwaras and pray for them to be ready come game time.

Roshanrocks Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 the pics that you have shown will take just a day for shuttering and concreting, and the toilets can also be installed along with plumbing within a few days, it does seem likely that the stadium will be ready in time. Of course if the contractor has to bribe everybody to get things done then.... i am interested to see picture of eden gardens

Whether or not Wankhede or Mohali or Chinnaswamy are dirty stadiums in a state of neglect have nothing to do with why Eden gardens lost out. The fact of the matter is that Eden gardens were given a deadline and an inspection date. They weren't anywhere close to what was expected of them during that inspection ( if the thread on ICF is to be believed). That surely is not Sharad Pawar's fault. I am sure he didn't go and uproot the stands or throw garbage on the premises etc. That is all a result of poor management by whoever ran the show in Kolkata. You forget that the first game at the Wankhede is much later than the game at Eden Gardens. Sharad Pawar maybe a dirty politician for a lot of reasons. But Eden Gardens losing out on the India England game is not his doing.
