When the captain is saying one thing, why are you making up your team and playing Raina in it. Do you know more than Dhoni? So tell me who is playing team selector here? Lol I can only sense your desperation when you talk about rains bowling..are you saying Raina is a better bowler than Yuvraj? Hahahaha Who is even talking about Yuvraj here? despo much? On very spin friendly pitches pace bowlers don't get to finish their 10 overs each while 30+ overs can be bowled by spinners. This is when Raina can share a few overs with UV and YP. Indian pitches are more or less spin friendly and it would be very handy to have a decent part time spinner like Raina. Now, I am not even talking about Raina taking UV's place as UV is more of a specialist spinner and a specialist batsman combined in one. UV averages 17 at bowling in world cups for god's sake... Now, as far as strike players are concerned we already have Sachin, Sehwag and Gambhir doing their job very well. Kohli can replace either of these three in case of an injury. It's not that Kohli is a bad player but there is no slot in the line up for him. .

Raina might get his chance in the later stage or depending upon the opposition. The team from q/fs should be picked based on their performance in the first 6 matches & raina is going to be very crucial for us when we are put to chase a huge total & thats wer I dont trust the likes of Yuvi (lately ) and YP ( in spite of his recent heroics )

Kohli is an innings builder as likley to go at sr of 80 or 90. Good but not explosive enough. We have plenty of innings builders. No one can come in 8 or 10 overs to go and explode like raina does on a consistent basis, not even Y Pathan. Raina is an absloute must to come in 8 overs to go and unleash hell at strike rate of 200 plus.

Most of our poor performances over the last year or so have been because we have lost too many wickets too early in the game. With Tendulkar, Gambhir, and Kohli in the top 4 it is very unlikely that we will have a batting collapse. Yuvraj, Pathan, and Dhoni can always fill in Raina's role. There is no way we can bowl 12-15 overs from part timers without Yuvraj, so he is a must. Unfortunate as it is, there is no spot for Raina and Dhoni has pretty much said so.

Good but not explosive enough. this is true but with yuvraj in such horrible form, somebody has to be there to hold the innings together. kohli is making up for yuvraj's low scores. and yes, india has a lot of innings builders but they also have a lot of boundary hitters lower down. dhoni tonked a 60 ball century last game, harbhajan can smack it to all parts, as can yusuf and zaheer.

I still dont understand why Yuppo cant be dropped and Raina be picked. Yes, Yuppo had a good run after NZ series. But Raina is an old-hand relative to Yuppo, and Raina has better batting talent than Yuppo. Tough call between Raina and Yuppo Both Raina and Yusuf Pathan can bowl a bit of offspin when required. So, thats sorta equal - perhaps advtg Yuppo there. Batting: Yuppo can smash it BIGGER but is more hit/miss compared to Raina.
