Meandering, passionless, and pointless

It was designed to be a safe format. Since the early exit of India could sound a death knell to the financial viability of the tournament. Hence it was structured in such a way that India is in the contention atleast till the knockout stages which forms a bulk.
then why not to put india in both Groups :winky: that would be even more safer...

why Oz and NZ not hosting WC? last they hosted was in 92 but nothing after that.. not even any other ICC tournaments..

Bored??? This WC has been great so far. Just bc there have been few one sided events doesn't mean it becomes boring. Even few games involving minnows were interesting/great like Ireland vs England, Canada vs Pakistan, Netherlands vs England, Ireland vs India etc. A shorter format is all what is needed in the future, no teams chopping and sole money incentive decisions. I have watched all weekend matches live and almost all the highlights, maybe you guys are bored b/c of India's performance so far? They are not doing that bad so keep your hopes high :--D

Its pretty simple.44% of the test playing nations are in the subcontinent. So essentially, atleast 1 in 3 WC's should be hosted in the subcontinent. It's either that or every team gets to host it individually. Besides, companies that want Indian eyes and are willing to sponsor the ICC jumped from 80% in the 2003 WC to 100% this WC. ICC likes money and thus will appease its sponsors, who would rather have it in India.

In fact even the NZ vs Pakistan game was boring as... absolutely no contest NZ beat Pakistan by a canter. The Indian ones have been good so were the England ones. Otherwise like I said, far too long, too many one sided games and nothing to be excited about unless you are desperate and have 24x7 to do nothing but watch cricket.

^ well if your team is in group A I don't blame you. If your team is in B (beside Neatherland) then you should be bitting your nails during each match. The qualification is going to be so intense dude! Even India is not safe at the moment (baring some miracle happens). So yea all 4 gates are still open in grp B and you are saying you are bored? Man ohh man ...

If you're watching each and every game live and then reading all the match reports, and watching news and tv shows then it can get a bit crazy and you can become sick of watching too much cricket 24x7. However, if you're picking out a few games to watch each week along with following your main team, then it's not too bad. The packed full stadiums for the Ind/Bang/SL matches also add an extra dimension. Just watched the Bangladesh/Ireland match yesterday with a packed stadium and while it was a low key match, I still found it to be interesting. There are similar complains during the IPL when one starts watching all the games...just limit to watching your team's games. Atleast works for me

From your comments it looks more like you are a new comer to ODIs or someone who only enjoys watching India play. ODIs have usually been like this, and this WC has been fortunate enough to have good number of good games so not sure what exactly you are complaining about. NZ vs Pak game was fun too, Akmal shocking drops, base-ball type pitching, NZ last 5 over outrage, Razzaq-Gul second last wicket quick partnership and a lil ray of hope...etc. If its the length of the games, then you are not the right person following the game. T20 sloggofest will suit you better I guess. Most of the people who I have talked to have been enjoying the cup so far.

Even though Group B's matches are far more interesting to watch, the ICC has made a total hash of this WC. Even die hard fans are getting bored at this point; if the ICC had an iota of common sense, they would've set up at least 2 matches a day when minnow nations are playing. The tournament is all too stretched out and people are already getting impatient to watch the quarters because the group stages are so yawn inducing. Not many people would even bother watching one-sided matches like Australia-Kenya on a Sunday unless there would've been a second match that could possibly pique viewer/spectator interest. The ICC seriously has a lot to learn from sports bodies like FIFA. Look how exciting the footy WC was last year even when the non-favourites were playing.

How can you form a perspective without even knowing me? :nono: I guess you don't get it.... it is not the cricket but it's the minnow bashing that has been boring to watch. One day you watch a fantastic tie and then there's about a week or 10 days before you get a close game like that one again. Forget the closeness, even a decent game is far and few. There are so many dud games in between it feels like a good game in this world cup comes once in a while and in between you lose interest. If you are a bloke that enjoy rubbish bowling, silly drops and below average performances on a regular basis but a decent game once a week then I reckon this world cup is for you. Strange you mention I may be following only India but you mention about Razzaq-Gul partnership of all :haha:

LOL! Just because India won, it made up of a month of largely drudgery? Anyhow, the minnows have been kicked out from the next edition and we'll see a more competitive and meaningful World Cup next time.
