straight.drive Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 This IS the best ODI innings by an english batsman in the recent past. He used the sweep against spin, seemed to score boundaries at will and was never under pressure in spite of the huge target. And in the end, he had to dislodged by an unplayable delivery from Zak. Of course, our bowling was crap. But that still was one heck of an innings
jf1gp_1 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 what are we appreciating him not letting India win a match they should have won ? an exceptional innings he was calm , didnt take any risk i never expected him to comeone with such an inning, midway through the game i was only thinking about KP and trott once both departed i thought it was just a matter of time but strauss just went on an on. Great innings.
Sid Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 DHONI,VIRU AND ZAK were deaf otherwise it would have been different :P Very good innings, best I have seen from him
zaheer Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Never rated him as an ODI batsman... But todays was an exceptional captain knock!!
Shakthi Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Yea after nicking the ball not walking off he had great chances to score 150.
Sachin=GOD Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Yea after nicking the ball not walking off he had great chances to score 150. and was it not Dhoni or some other fielder at fault for not hearing the nick?? Why always blame the opposition, he played an outstanding innings so why is it so difficult for you to appreciate it.
Sir john Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 in morning i removed him from my ss team :wall:
Shakthi Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 and was it not Dhoni or some other fielder at fault for not hearing the nick?? Why always blame the opposition' date=' he played an outstanding innings so why is it so difficult for you to appreciate it.[/quote'] Because Sachin played better innings than him and Strauss didnt deserve this 150 against our average bowlers.
Watson87 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Appreciation my behind, he's a cheater for not walking after clearly nicking twice.
vvvslaxman Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Hats off to him. He was very fluent throughout. He does very well in India. Even in the last tour he made 2 centuries in the same Test. His backfoot style suits. He just sits on the backfoot and milks the ball. Spinners had to toss up . Both spinners failed to do.
Sir_Afridi Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Appreciation my behind' date=' he's a cheater for not walking after clearly nicking twice.[/quote'] Ashes defeat still hurts :giggle:
Watson87 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Ashes defeat still hurts :giggle: not really we pwned them in the odis 6-1 also Aussies are world cup champions and still unbeatable :winky: go chew on some balls :finger:
Sachin=GOD Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Because Sachin played better innings than him and Strauss didnt deserve this 150 against our average bowlers. I really don't see how Strauss' innings was in any way less than Goddy's. His team was chasing a mammoth total against the home favorites and he lead from the front and played a very good innings under pressure.
Clarke Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 This guy's exploded in the last yr or so in odis .. from an avg under 40 at a mediocre strike rate, he's scored at 50+ and a strike rate of >95. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/20387.html?class=2;template=results;type=batting
Serani Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Appreciation my behind' date=' he's a cheater for not walking after clearly nicking twice.[/quote'] Which batsman would walk after the opposition dont even appeal? Maybe Gilchrist but nobody else.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 class player. they produce some great eft arm batters. gower, tresco, and now this guy.
Sachinism Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 What an innings, he deserved to be on the winning side
HowardRoark Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Excellent innings by Strauss today. Hats off! The two clear nicks that India did not even appeal is one of the strangest things I have seen on the field. So I doubt Strauss could ever play such an innings again.
