Not every team should have a clown as a captain, its not good for the future of the game. VVS, most of us including the team management must have known our bowling weakness. I'm not sure what can be done now other than a couple of changes in the playing XI, which hopefully will work out. As far as pitches goes, we definitely do not need dustbowls. The ball needs to grip the wicket when its given a proper tweak and it used to happen in many of our home games before 300 became an average score. Can we rediscover that phase ?

there are two problems: 1. letting the game drift after posting a big total. dhoni is also guilty of allowing this to happen sometimes with defensive field settings. this is a mental thing. they take their position of strength for granted. 2. not restricting singles and doubles. opposition work the cheap runs at will off indian bowlers. this is international cricket, and batsmen like bell and strauss arent mugs but u cant let them work the ball around wherever they want. they can build a partnership and if u cant get wickets, at least stop the runs. not surprisingly, india bowl much better when their batting lineup underachieves. but its still early days in the tournament. india are guaranteed a QF place so they have plenty of time to fix these two problems

Don't bet on it... other Teams haven't come to make up the numbers, you know. As one commentator was saying, Indian players looked old and tired on the field. I also suspect Sehwag wasn't fully fit, hence his flurry of rash strokes, as he wanted to get back to the Dressing Room in a hurry.

All this talk about Indian bowling being so crap and yet England bowlers conceded just as many runs and they had 5 specialist bowlers. I feel our bowling will only get better from here on after yesterday's match.

I know it is very pakistansque. After getting a prison pounding they usually look for positives. I am doing the same :cantstop: . 1) Our favorite tag took a hit which is good for us 2) Happened so early in the tournament. India has time to work out their strategy 3) Pitch preparation needs a revisit assuming we have a say in pitch preparation. Instead of absolute patta wicket India should go for pitches with a bit in it for spinners. 4) India's all weaknesses exposed in a single match. Now Kirsten should work on it. Anytime India posts a big total we just let it drift and try to do catch up job. This has been happening for a while. 5) Toss decision. I don't think India should bat first by default in every match after winning the toss. With the kind of batting line up we have all teams will be under pressure to post huge total.

Strange you say that and I'm surprised Pakistan does look for positives after a game. In fact this is a very practiced method by champion teams to just look for positives to give that positive outlook to the team and supporters rather than feel far too down about a result that may affect the rest of the tourney. If the Indian team's mindset is right, they will feel quite happy about the way they came back after the game was pretty much done and dusted in favour of England. That shows the players still have it in them to fight when things are not going their way. Just take the positives and in the end it's not like Indians lost they made a fantastic come back to tie. A loss would have hurt immensely. Even if India would have lost they should only carry positives given there are plenty more games to come in the first round. Leave all the negative stuff for post mortem after the tourney. I don't know if selection was a problem here, Sreesanth or Nehra would have gone for plenty too. The pitch was fantastic to bat, the ground wasn't huge either and England are battle hardened having played the no.1 ODI side Australia.
