I am doing the same :cantstop: . 1) Our favorite tag took a hit which is good for us 2) Happened so early in the tournament. India has time to work out their strategy 3) Pitch preparation needs a revisit assuming we have a say in pitch preparation. Instead of absolute patta wicket India should go for pitches with a bit in it for spinners. 4) India's all weaknesses exposed in a single match. Now Kirsten should work on it. Anytime India posts a big total we just let it drift and try to do catch up job. This has been happening for a while. 5) Toss decision. I don't think India should bat first by default in every match after winning the toss. With the kind of batting line up we have all teams will be under pressure to post huge total.

But seriously here's what I would consider as "positives"... 1. We now know we can't just sit back and relax, which essentially we did by giving easy singles throughout, even after posting a huge total. 2. Now we also know that we have to work on fielding positions and strategies for each bowler and situation. Not simply put 5 men deep and hope the batting team self-implodes. 3. This happened in a group game. This kick up the ass is better now than the knock-outs. 4. Now we know that Chawla is not the option against teams who can attack spinners. Better go with Ashwin who can bowl in the power-plays or even a 3rd pacer in Nehra :(( 5. Zaheer finally found his rhythm towards the end of the game. If he's able to bowl like that, it will ease a lot of our bowling concerns. 6. Best of all today was a game where nothing worked for us in the field. This won't happen everytime :smiley:

Unfortunately the only turners we saw were during the warm-up games, and once Smith & Ponting moaned about it, we have moved on to batting paradises which minimizes our home advantage.

Our batsmen can score runs in spin friendly tracks, and the opposition will be under severe pressure. Lets get Home advantage for this WC! B'lore produced a great track for the Warmup match. We need such ones, not these pattas on which any team will belt our toothless popgun bowling attack!

Let's see what happens later in the tournament!

Need to attack a bit more!!

Beter now than in a knockout game where we can only do post-mortem but it would be useless. But I don't agree with point 5. I think we should always bat first. Our batsmen bat freely when we bat first. If we have to chase, somehow we get tied up in knots. The pressure gets to us, we try to "build", the RRR keeps going up, then we slog and hole out...seen it too many times. No, we should always bat first, try to get as much as we can, knowing that our bowlers are going to leak plenty. Let's just hope we get more than they are able to leak.

That must be in two innings :P In the past though, we had to score against there so called good bowlers and their batsmen had an easier run against our bowlers so that's probably still playing on their minds .... Take Akthar out and there isn't much difference in bowling b/w the two sides and also the win against SL when bowling under lights seems to have given them an impression that bowling under lights is the same everywhere and Ind allowed Eng to get 338 :giggle:

Little_Master Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 all said and done...i am delighted that we pulled a tie out of nowhere. India never really looked like winning the match until the 44th or 45th over. To avoid a defeat after being thrashed for 40+ overs is a good comeback. I do not think any other team apart from the Aussies would have achieved what we did today...specially with England dominating for the first 40 overs. God must be really watching out for Dhoni and co. Even the best team in the world (Aus) lost to SA after scoring 434 runs. Just goes to show that even the best of the teams can have a bad day in the field. Well done team India!!! Well done!!!!
