Ind vs Eng - 49th over by piyush chawla As I watched Piyush get ready to bowl the 49th over...I thought...why not Sehwag or Sachin...did anyone else get the same thought? I understand that Piyush is considered to be a specialist bowler while Sachin and Sehwag are considered part timers...however, in such a tense situation, Sachin and Sehwag would have handled the pressure better. Why is'nt sehwag bowling?

Sehwag has an injured shoulder and you can't expect him to bowl at a crucial time when he hasn't bowled for a long time. Tendulkar was not even on the field at the time - Raina was fielding for him after he hurt his back while batting. Tendulkar was on the field for some time but Raina replaced him mid-way. Also, Tendulkar is not the same bowler he was earlier. He generally gives a couple of boundary balls every over and hasn't bowled much in the recent time. Plus Chawla is a specialist bowler. If a specialist bowler can't even be bowled when the batting team needs 29 off 2 overs and with tailenders at the wicket, don't think such a bowler should be in the team. Personally I was hoping Yuvraj gets to bowl as he cramps up the batsmen with his left arm darts and is quite effective while doing so. On the other hand Chawla flights the ball and there are more chances of tailenders getting stuck into him which is exactly what happened.

I didn't see Chawla's bowling, but however he was bowling, it was poor decision by Dhoni to employ him to deliver 49th bowler. Leg-spinners are not made for that task.Batsmen can easily get under the ball and have a wild heave to send ball for six. In such situations only two kind of bowlers required - Dart throwers or Yorker specialist. We definitely missed a trick there.

Chawla didn't bowl too badly... what a peppy title. Brings out the best/worst (depending how you look at it) in me. Chawla didn't bowl too badly Chawla didn't bowl too badly Just that Bresnan is big and burly And behaves like a meanie bully Sameshed Chawla for a 6 over gully Chawla didn't bowl too badly Maybe he was not fit fully Or maybe he was distracted by thoughts of Bendre Sonali And a cozy cottage with her in Manali Chawla didn't bowl too badly It was inexperience showing, sadly His first ODI in a WC only Cut him some slack guys, towards him be paly Chawla didn't bowl too badly But he looks as if he just ate 10 thali Alu paneer, butter chicken, rogan josh with roti romali How do you expect him to jump around freely? Chawla didn't bowl too badly He is feared by all, from Ponting to Bret Lee In the right spots he bowls precisely Remember the warm up game against Aus, he bowled brilliantly Chawla didn't bowl too badly Zaheer bowled goodly Bhajji bowled googly Our bowling makes the opponents feet wobbly Chawla didn't bowl too badly This retarded poem is composed by yours truly On the spur of the moment composition, ostentatiously Can Mariyam be a better poet than Ghalib, say you truthfully

Any spin bowler can go for runs when you are bowling in the death. Especially at Chinnaswamy' date=' when there is no turn and the boundaries are small, its easy to be hit for sixes. He also took two important wickets and gave away just 2 runs in the penultimate over of his spell. It would be a knee jerk reaction to drop him as he looks like a wicket taking option, especially on tracks which offer spin. Even Harbhajan is not bowling great anymore and others look to mostly contain runs. So I feel he should be in our lineup.[/quote'] I don't know which game you watched. Chawla was poor throughout and was serving up boundary balls every over. Did you even see how many half-trackers Chawla served up Strauss but fortunately for us Strauss found the fielders on the leg side most of the times. Against better teams or more aggressive batsmen those half-trackers would have been dispatched to the stands for 6s.

Ojha is probably the hardest spinner to score runs against amonst the 4 spinner we have and his bowling would have been ideal on this pitch.

That is true. He has this nagging line and length. Not many can go after him or milk him around.

Ojha probably lost out because of his fielding and batting. Otherwise, I feel he is a better bowler than both Chawla and Ashwin. He was also the highest wicket taker and economical in the IPL but was sidelined for the previous T20 World Cup too.

With a leggie, you sort of expect those kind of balls every now and then. But I remember he troubled Strauss and Bell on a few deliveries right after he got Trott out. I think he will be a wicket taker for India as pitches get slower and break up in the latter part of the summer.

He can bowl anytime - power-plays, at the death or curtail scoring in the middle overs. You will see Dhoni falling back to the strategy he used when he won IPL with Bollinger and soinners - have Ashwin bowl at the start with Zaheer and let Harbhajan and Yuvraj tie up scoring in the middle overs :)
