vvvslaxman Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 1. Our devastating batting lineup. 2. The fact that we have played 90% of our matches at home in the last 2 years. Last 2 years India 21 matches home 26 matches away 13 matches neutral Are you sure it is 90%
vvvslaxman Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 There is no way these 4 teams can't defend 340 on pancake pitches. They have genuine wicket takers' date=' not 120kph trundlers.[/quote'] boohoo. India chased down 271 runs under lights that too in Dumbulla against much better Pakistan attack. That was a record chase.
Asoka Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Last 2 years India 21 matches home 26 matches away 13 matches neutral Are you sure it is 90% Srry I meant subcontinent. We played gazillion matches in Lanka,a few in Bangladesh and 4 in Zimbabwe. We were badly exposed in RSA (once in CT 09, once in the last series).
singhprakash72 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 It was combination of Dhoni's tactics with Indian Bowling that allowed Eng to cruise along till Power play came...I think it will be crucial if Dhoni learnt anything from that match....THE HISTORY DOES NOT SUPPORT THE BEST BOWLING SIDE ALWAYS WIN THE WC...except last few by Aussies. So Dhoni with limited resources can still pull wins if only he is little aggressive in field setting and does not play waiting game that he did with eng.
vvvslaxman Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Srry I meant subcontinent. We played gazillion matches in Lanka' date='a few in Bangladesh and 4 in Zimbabwe. We were badly exposed in RSA (once in CT 09, once in the last series).[/quote'] Not all subcontinent pitches are the same. Some of the SL pitches are minefields when you chase targets. It is very hard. India played 39 matches out of total 60 in subcontinent which is 35% matches outside the subcontinent. Again it is not close to 90%.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 1. Our devastating batting lineup. 2. The fact that we have played 90% of our matches in subcontinent in the last 2 years. If, as per you, we won regularly because we played "90%" of our games in sub-continent, shouldn't that be a positive as the world cup is being held in the subcontinent? Since we did so well on the sub-continent (as we played "90%" games here), our bowlers must have done better than the other teams to win. Thus, in nutshell as per your logic our bowling is actuallly stronger than other teams on the subcontinent where the tourney is being played :winky:
Asoka Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Our bowling attack is poor, our batters are godlike(at least in the subcontinent)
King Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 As much as Bell said about Bangalore crowd inspiring them to the tie, I'd say the Bangalore crowd may have inspired India to tie the game rather than lose it. When England were 2 down and just over 6 runs and over to get I guess the crowd must have lifted the Indian performance. On a second thought, I'd say India did well enough to get away with a tie.
cowboysfan Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I still cant believe the bangalore pitches are turning out to be absolute pattas, its great that the matches have been competitive but not so great if you are an indian spinner.
King Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I still cant believe the bangalore pitches are turning out to be absolute pattas' date='its great that the matches have been competitive but not so great if you are an indian spinner.[/quote'] There was a bit of bounce in it yesterday but the fast outfield and short boundaries negates the bounce. Turner it is definitely not but the pacers can exploit the deck early on.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Our bowling attack is poor' date=' our batters are godlike(at least in the subcontinent)[/quote'] Again you make generic blanked statements without any factual information to back up ur statements. If our bowling attack is poor, at least it must be better than our opponent's bowling attack to be no. 2 in the world. As vvslaxman has posted in another thread these are the Indian scores in last 10 innings against Pak... Last 10 innings against Pakistan 321/9 294/6 260/4 275 330/8 290 301/4 308/7 248 271/7 Mind you some of the innings were played in SL (e.g., Dambulla) which are not that batting friendly as Bangalore pitch. Now just imagine what would have happened if ALL the matches were played on B'lore type of wkts? I don't really see Pak doing too well against us.
vvvslaxman Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Bangalore was the only pitch that had bit of bounce and pace during IPL. These guys have spoilt by shaving everything off.
fineleg Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Can we get a pitch similar to the warmup match at Bangalore? For the India Ireland match? Otherwise even this Ireland minnows may go on a rampage to slaughter our popgun attack? We need a slow, low, turning pitch at B'lore! CURATOR!!!
Shredder Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 English bowling is very undisciplined. http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cricket_worldcup2011/engine/match/433572.html?view=extraspie
Ultimate_Game Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 English bowling is very undisciplined. http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cricket_worldcup2011/engine/match/433572.html?view=extraspie This is what happens when you are faced with hitters like O'Brien, Pathan, Afridi etc. on a batting pitch. The bowlers are so scared of not putting the ball in the right spot for batsman or are so nervous to get the ball spot on that they end up giving wides or drifting on the pads resulting in leg byes.
vvvslaxman Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 English bowling is very undisciplined. http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cricket_worldcup2011/engine/match/433572.html?view=extraspie It is extras from both teams lol Actually ireland bowled 20 wides. England bowled 12 wides.
CG Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Our bowling attack is poor' date=' our batters are godlike(at least in the subcontinent)[/quote'] Another fool,Mate conditions are important part of performances ,In south africa our bowlers won us matches when batsman struggled so it is a team effort wins matches based on conditions
Asoka Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Another fool' date='Mate conditions are important part of performances ,In south africa our bowlers won us matches when batsman struggled so it is a team effort wins matches based on conditions[/quote'] Idiot, you keep dreaming that we have got the awesomest bowling attack.God save you.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Idiot' date=' you keep dreaming that we have got the awesomest bowling attack.God save you.[/quote'] Nowhere did anyone say that we have the best attack. But at the same time we are not as bad as you make us to be.
