Ultimate_Game Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 After a none too impressive performance by India against the fighting Irish, let's take solace in some "positives" :--D 1. We got some practice chasing and everyone got a chance to bat... most of the batsmen spent some time at the crease and at least they would be ready when their turn comes up next. 2. The biggest positive - at least we won't have Chawla in the team anymore. Hopefully he has played himself out of the tourney after being outbowled by all the bowlers, including the Irish spinners :yay: 3. Yuvraj seems to be finding his touch. 4. Pathan was awesome on a not so good pitch. He can do a lot of damage on better batting surfaces. 5. Our batsmen should be out of the typical Bangalore patta wicket mentality after batting here. I was getting worried that the batsmen would be spoilt after playing on batting beauties. Now batsmen know that there will be pitches where they will have to grind it out.

If India beats SA we will definitely win the group. I hope we prepare a turning track like Chennai or the one we played today's game on SA will have no hope of beating us on a turning and spin-friendly track :smiley:

His 3 wides in an over and his 2 no balls and the free hit for a 6 should be enough for Dhoni as well. If as a spinner you can't perform well on this pitch and that too against Ireland, you have no business playing cricket at an intl level.

The pitch today was same pitch used last Sunday. That day it was new pitch, and due to rain, it had moisture. But today out and out dry. We need our spinners to keep improving. I wish Veeru can bowl
saneindian Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Bowlers bowled well barring Chawla, batsmen spent time in the middle, fielding was also okayish. We are slowly getting there. In a way its good due to the length of the tournament. Also one good things that these tight games are doing is to keep the local media in check else the idiots had started celebrating as if India had already won the WC and needed to only turn up for the WC.

Indian bowling will be tested again. :nervous: If BCCI and the Nagpur creator has any sense he would start preparing a spin friendly surface. He has a week to work on the pitch and if he scrubs and sweeps the surface everyday till next Saturday we should have a spin-friendly surface for Smith and company :--D If I'm Dhoni I would have already gotten on the phone with BCCI (Srnivasan, and CSK owner to boot) and the state associations who are hosting the India games and given them the instructions regarding the kind of pitches I'm expecting and it definitely wouldn't be fast, bouncy or flat
