Goes on to say how much Flawed ICC Rankings are.

The pitch at the VCA Jamtha ground looks like a batting paradise and batsmen from both the sides would love to bat on it as it also offers even bounce. According to curator Praveen Hinganikar, a score of above 300 is very much on the cards. "Basically, it's a sporting wicket which offers equal help to batsmen and bowlers. But because of high temperature, the top layer of grass has dried out. The dryness of grass might negate the early movement of the new ball. The flat surface will surely benefit the batters," Hinganikar told TOI on Wednesday. The temperature in Nagpur has risen quite significantly in the last 10 days and it is hovering around 37-38 degree celsius which will force pacers to toil hard to garner any purchase from the track. "If you look at the last few matches played on this track, a score of 300 is a normal thing. But this time because of current heat factor, spinners might get some assistance as the match progresses," explained former Vidarbha Ranji captain Hinganikar. Although, Saturday's encounter will be the fourth World Cup match at the VCA Jamtha ground, the main centre wicket was not used in the earlier matches. The last competitive match played on the surface was India-New Zealand Test in December, 2010. "It will not make much of a difference as we have prepared the pitch very well. The rolling has been going on continuously for the last few weeks and it will offer nice carry on the wicket," he said. :nervous:

It's a batting paradise, not the other way around.. so the logical thing to do would be to go with Ashwin as well as a surprise bowler, and open with a spinner instead of opening with Zak this time around. That will surprise the Proteas a bit.. we really need to stop being predictable now. Dhoni loved opening with spin in the IPL, I don't understand what's gotten into him now. But yeah, I think the 7+4 combo will stay. On a pitch like Nagpur, you'd want to put up a huge score.. so doing away with a batsman would be a bad idea.

zen Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 It is suppose to be a run fest at Nagpur. Which ever batting line up fires on Saturday will take the game .... Expecting SA to come back hard at Ind after their freak loss against Eng The last couple of games should be a good opportunity to try out Ashwin and may be also play both Sree and Nehra to decide on the 3rd seamer for KO games. Zak can be rested and Munaf can come in I would not tinker much w/ the batting, only thing is I would have YP at 5 to get him into rhythm for the KO stages
