But the main point is why is that people think Sehwag is a rubish batsman despite the fact he averages 53 with almost 8000 runs at a strike rate of 80? he's also got one of the highest averages of all time as an opener. People only Discuss the weak bowling era when they talk about Sehwag but not when talking about Ponting or kallis.

Its pretty obvious that Holding is pandering to the padosis with his comments - and no surprise they are orgasming over the Sehwag comment over there. Given how Sehwag has repeatedly **** raped their bowlers, their deep frustration and wounds are understandable. At the end of the day, Sehwag's magnificent Test record speaks for itself, and if he can score a triple century against Dale Steyn, I'm sure he would have handled Holding with no problem at all - much as Holding and his newly found padosi fans (who would probably have been calling Holding all sorts of things when Holding attacked Akhtar) will like to delude themselves otherwise.

Anyone running down Sehwag betrays his/her cricket ignorance. He has done which no other batsman has ever done - a Strike Rate of 80 in Tests!!! Can you believe it - Strike Rate of 80 in Tests and that too as an opener!!! No matter what the pitch condition, no matter what the bowlers he faced but to average 50+ at a Strike Rate of 80 in Tets takes a special talent. And it's not as if others didn't play in similar conditions and same bowling attacks. His peers such as Hayden, Smith, Jayasuriya etc. who are supposed to be aggresive openers as well struggle to even have a SR of 60 and some of them have a much lesser average. It's not as if Sehwag bats on one pitch and rest on others. He is once in a generation cricketer and we are lucky to have watched him play. I have never seen a Test opener like him before and I suspect never will. As for ignorant fools like the one I quoted, do keep in mind that Sehwag has scored 2 triple centuries and one near triple (293 I think). No ordinary batsman, or a slogger, does that. Only Bradman has the same no. of triple centuries as Sehwag and I'm sure plenty of players have played in similar conditions as Sehwag. Maybe folks like Passion should enlighten us that if batting after 80s was so easy how come no other opener has come close to achieving what Sehwag has? If Sehwag would have averaged 10 in 80s what about the likes of Anwar, Sohail, Smith, Hayden, Gayle, Jayasuriya etc.? I am sure they would have averaged anywhere between 2 to 5 going by your logic.

Sehwag can turn back and say he has faced way better bowlers than him. That said Sehwag wouldn't do that. Usually the world class don't get into mud-slinging simply because they can't afford time. They are so engaged with their work and have no time for critics. Take for instance Tendulkar or Rahul Dravid, they are the same. They don't want any more publicity, they are at peace with themselves. The likes of Holding may certainly have time to think about all this as they are not as professionally engaged. I don't think the world class players ever get into this sort of debates. They leave it to average people i.e fans like us to discuss these things while they are working at getting better each day :winky:
