Guest prince Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Should Dhoni be sacked as an ODI captain if India fails to reach the semifinals in this world cup? If yes then who should be his replacement as an ODI captain?
Baad Indian Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 My vote for Sehwag . And yes in case of India failing to lift this world cup Dhoni should be immediately sacked from the captaincy , its now or never .
punjabi_khota Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I think Bhajji should be the captain, and Munaf vice-captain.

Ultimate_Game Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Too soon to be speculating. Let's cross the bridge when we get there. If India lose in quarters even with Ashwin in the team you can't do much - it's just that we weren't good enough. However, if India loses coz Chawla or Munaf & Nehra were persisted with and Ashwin never got a game, it would be time for change.

therocky Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Yes he should be replaced but not with Sachin because his time is nearly over :(
Ultimate_Game Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Munaf actually has picked up 9 wickets at an average of 23.11 and strike rate of 23.2 so I think continuous criticism is unfair on him. But he has come up way short when he needed to step up to the plate against decent opposition in SA and Eng. In both these games, Munaf conceded 13+ runs and that to to tailend batsmen! This sort of performance is unacceptable from your fast bowler. I don't really care what he did against minnows but against the better sides he has been a let down with figures of 2/70 and 1/65 IIRC.
goose Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Absolutely no. He's a very good keeper. His batting has gone off the boil but he has an exceptional record. Think of the games he has won with him and Yuvraj at the crease. Think of his blitzkrieg that allowed Tendulkar to cruise to 200. He is on the whole a good captain and leader, connecting well with both young and old. Is there anyone else that does all these things? We're No.1 in tests. You tinker with the ODI captaincy and you're messing with the test team dynamic too. On the minus front, he has started to believe in his own hype off late, and probably feels anything and everything he touches or says will turn to gold. I don't agree with all his pre-match strategy but in the midst of an actual game he's sharp and calm. The negatives are a small price to pay given the massive burden he (or an any alternative) has to carry.
Sooda Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I think Bhajji should be the captain' date=' and [s']Munaf Sree Santh vice-captain. :cantstop:
asterix Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I think Dhoni should quit ODIs. He should concentrate on Test Cricket & IPL. Playing meaningless ODI series is taking it's toll on him. Let Gambhir take charge of the ODI and T20 teams..
yoda Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I think Chawla should replace Dhoni as captain. Then he can keep picking Dhoni till their confidence levels reach an equilibrium. :hehe:

goose Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 I assume Gambhir is a popular choice for some given his captaincy and tons in the recent series against NZ. There were some big names missing in that series and his role as opener was vital. In a team that includes Kohli and Yuvraj, with one of Sehwag and Tendulkar virtually guaranteed to fire at the top, I question the role of Gambhir in the side.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 it was 2/70 and 2/65 I stand corrected but again these are not the bowling figures you would expect your fast bowler to have. Plus he doesn't raise his game in crunch situations like Zaheer - he has given runs twice in hos last over when a decent effort from him could have gotten us the win.
Switchblade Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 @ asterix in t20 Gambhir should lead the side but he has not been consistent part of reason we won 1st t20 was bcoz he contribute most of the time and in t20 M.s has been poor dont think M.S is going to be removed he has the backing of players and Board
Switchblade Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 @ prince cool avtar man u also post like a cool dude :)
