I have seen Anil Kapoor-Khan's-Hrithik Roshan-whoever it is now era.I have seen political changes .from local theater to multiplexes.From Thumbsup,Goldspot to Pepsi,Coke.From DD to cable TV revolution.I moved from Chennai-Mumbai-Hyderabad-Chicago,Despite all these changes one thing remained constant my admiration for SRT.I will be devestated the day he retires.:((
maniac Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Adding to my post Indian team will not be the same,when I got into watching cricket it was all about Kapil and by the time I started following the game it was Sachin,in 21 years no one has matched his aura and I don't see anyone in the current setup with the same legacy. There will not be another Gvaskar,Kapil Dev and definetely not another Sachin. Dhoni, Kohli might attain the status of say a Gundappa Vishwanath, Ganguly,Dravid,Laxman,Kumble,Vengsarker and dare I say Azhar(before being banned) but I don't see a standout legend in the current setup

Sure we have Dhoni/Yuvraj/Gambhir but comparing them to Sachin is like comparing Gilchrist to Kamran Akmal. What will happen to Indian team when Sachin is gone? He is turning 38 and this will be his last world cup. For me, Sachin - Best Bat Dhoni - More indispensable to the team than Sach. Sachin's a truly inspirational person\player n will be a sad sad day of world cricket n for all us fans when he retires. Sachin retiring from ODIs will have almost ZERO impact on India's win percentage.

The enlightenment centre will be a blend of tradition and modern technology.We will be collecting soils from all the grounds Sachin Tendulkar has made centuries. We're working with Tendulkar to give us his trophies and bats used throughout his famous knocks among other memorabilia. There will be atleast 2-3 movie theatres showcasing rare footage and going through the various milestones of his career. For the kids, there will be Tendulkar rides as well as interactive batting net sessions. In the 3rd hall, there will be a 'Test your Might' quiz contest. The winner will get a Sachin Tendulkar autographed Indian jersey. Me and my wife still wake up at 2:30 am to watch these games and if India/SRT is not batting, then we go back to sleep... and she still changes her facebook status at SRT's century.. an ERA will come to an end..

deadlee Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Without a doubt, the interest of most cricket fans, including mine will be negatively impacted. Watching HIM play and rooting for his success is implicit in any Indian cricket that I watch. Even today, I applaud his centuries with the same vigor as I did his first... when he gets out in the 90's, i still feel the same frustration i did back in the early 90's when he just couldn't score his first in ODIs. It'll feel a little hollow to watch cricket with having "SRT" to cheer on.

With no offences to the man,VS means no where near to what Sachin has meant to us. He has caught our imaginations like anything. But then I believe the world does tend to move on. I don't think noone imagined that India will have a Tendulkar 2 years post the retirement of SMG, but that is what happened. SMG, IMO caught the imagination of the people as much SRT did. People back then used to think he was irreplaceable. But then we had SRT straight after that.
