Is this edition of the worldcup the most successfull one (financialy)? think about it...the fans showing up to the stadiums....lots of TV rights sold...and then pak-india semi...half the world population will be watching that match

Is this the most exciting World Cup yet? What do you guys think? I, honestly speaking, remained glued to the tv throughout Some really exciting and nail biting Group stage matches and now we have the "Mother of all matches" coming up. Could one have asked for a better World tournament?

For me its been by far the most exciting I live in Toronto, and for the first time i know people from South Asia who were born in Canada all of a sudden watching matches. I have never seen this not even in T20 Interest here is very very high,

There was already a good article on cricinfo by Sambit Bal comparing the 2007 edition of the world cup & this one. 2007 world cup had everything going for it: -> Super 8 format (that is supposed to produce more quality games) -> World cup in the Carribean - the ultimate party land -> Aussies slipping just before the world cup (to NZL) to open up the competition. Yet it turned out to be a disaster, as Ind-Pak went out early, Woolmer died, Stadiums were empty, games were one sided and the super 8 was a yawner. This world cup on the other hand had many things going against it: -> Potentially boring group games -> Stadiums were still not ready -> Terror threats -> Knockout format Yet, this world cup has seen competitive games, packed stadiums, relatively contraversy free progress thus far. Needless to say, a Ind-Aus QF, Ind-Pak semis has further spiced it up. The ICC & BCCI wanted India to play as many games as possible to maximise TV revenues & it has almost happened. Financially successful and some great entertainment. Thats what world cups are supposed to be.

Im sure for ICC this is a dream come true, TV Ratings companies are already predicting record ratings. Compare to this the other matches are like exhibition

I actually think it's been yet another world cup which is 2 weeks too long. We should have had the champion lift the trophy last Sunday. Only fools would think that a world cup should go on and on and on. The quality of games (not the cricket) has been very high. Sadly to the sad state of wickets in the sub-continent, particularly in India where they are almost if not flatter than what we find in Faisalabad, the bowling has had nothing to work with. Give me 150 plays 150 anyday over 350 plays 350.

The main reason is Pakistan not hosting any match... so all focus on cricket.. nothing else.

Honestly this world cup is the most boring and lazy world cup for us.:shout::shout:
Premdasa stadium. Toss win the matches.:nervous:

It's the best since 1996 because all the big teams made it through to the knockout phase. In 1999, 2003, 2007 you had the likes of Zimbabwe, Kenya, Bangladesh and Ireland getting to the knockout stage and this resulted in boring one sided matches.
